Bringing camera's and such to parks, where to put when on rides?

Hello!

Just a question for you all. I am planning my first trip to WDW and I am wondering, if we bring a camera or cell phone or something (maybe a small purse), on certain rides i'm sure you won't be able to take it on, so where do you leave it? Is there a safe place at the start of the ride?

Take anything valuable with you on the ride. We always do. Just put the strap around your neck or leg. Anything left outside the ride could be taken. Ziplock bags work great on water rides.

There is not, but you can take bags on any ride. I am a terrible over-packer so I always have a full sized backpack. While it is a little tight on some rides, there has never been a ride I haven't taken it on. There's a dry-well to put bags in on Kali River Rapids (and I think lockers before it) but not on other rides like Splash that you will get wet on, so keep that in mind. Maybe bring a plastic bag for your phone and camera?

No, there is no where "safe" to leave valuables at ride entries. One exception is for Kali River Rapids in the AK. There are lockers there at the beginning of the ride.
Be prepared to take everything on the ride with you. I have a Baggelini Cross Body bag (Purse size) that fits anything I need. Then there is either a net bag type container or I wear it on the rides.

The only time we couldn't bring our knapsack on the rides was on Soarin at Epcot. But it was on the floor and the ride just lifts up.

Disney is super "bag-friendly". No need to buy a $5 locker before every ride - just bring a backpack or cross-body bag or whatever is comfortable to carry and bring it on all the rides with you! Even if you don't ride wet rides, you may still want your camera or phone in a ziploc due to rainstorms or rides like Pirates where you wouldn't expect a soaking

I've never had to leave anything. I've even hauled a dslr camera, cross body purse, big backpack camera bag and a tripod in a bag onto space mountain with me!

Soarin may have been trickier if I'd have had all that but I only had my small cross body purse and dslr camera that day. There was a place to stow them under the seat on Soarin. Disney is super easy in regards to all of this.

I know I had my camera at least on splash. I think we had a locker for the tripods and camera bags that night. Maybe I wrapped it in a poncho or something. Can't remember but we were in the last row and didn't get more than a few drops on us. So no worries! If it's a small camera pack some ziplocks and stick it in one and you'll be fine!

I 'always' take my nice camera to the parks (in a camera bag) and have it around my neck/shoulder - have never had an issue even at Soarin, except once in all that time, I was asked to put it under the seat - no biggie!

When I go on SM I put the whole thing in a bag - just in case
the last time I got *soaked* - was glad my camera - even in it's case - was well protected!

We always have a backpack and I have a Baggalini cross body bag. Everything we have/need fits in these and we take them on all rides with us.

One of the most impressive things about Disney is bag storage for the rides. Even upside down roller coasters have some sort of compartment so that you can snap your bags in and have them with you. Really, really nice for peace of mind. I'd bring something cross-body style if possible, otherwise a backpack. I brought a small cross body with me that was only about the size of, say, a small chapter book and it was perfect. Just enough for phone, keys, credit cards and ID, and some cash. Don't really need much else. : ) As far as a camera, have you looked into Memory Maker? It costs extra, but may save you a lot of trouble of trying to take pictures throughout the day, and then you could probably still take a few candids with your phone.

Agree with the PP's. DH is always carrying a full backpack and never has to leave it anywhere...there is room on the rides. Even Rock n' Roller Coaster. He just puts his legs through one of the arm loops and then lodges it on the floor under his legs.

As unfashionable as it is, I always use a fanny pack in WDW. Keeps my ands free and goes on all the rides with me.

I always bring a HUGE backpack full of: thermos of tea, bottles of water, large camera with zoom lens, jackets/layers for cool weather, cheat sheets and maps, granola bars and assorted snacks, wallet, ... I enjoy being prepared, what can I say. There's always a place to tuck the backpack on each ride, usually just fits snugly under your seat and legs. The only Disney ride where you can't do that is Soarin, and there you just leave large bags on the floor right below the ride. A CM will show you where.

We are going to Uni for the first time soon - I've read about their obsession with lockers and am not enthused. Pretty sure it's going to drive me bonkers

for first trips we used backpacks but now I use a camera bag (camera and 2 extra lenses) that can also hold reading glasses, tickets, wallet, sunglasses....

always have the camera bag that has webbed pockets on sides for water bottles. mine even has a camera bag rain cover that comes out of the bottom to cover entire bag!

we soon discovered that carrying a backpack around all day made the visit much less enjoyable for the person doing the carrying...

this did fit on Soarin' and the hardest fit was on Star Tours but I got it in under seat before takeoff

1) The rides DO NOT have safe storage bins/trays/etc.
2) But, this does not phase me.
3) I give things to MrsRustyScupper who always seems to manage.
4) Thank goodness for generous Fanny Packs.

Take them on with you, get a locker or have one member of your party who doesn't want to ride look after the valuables...there's noplace to leave them. You will be allowed to take bags on rides unless they are so large you cannot restrain them. Bring some plastic bags like ziplocks to put phones in for water rides.

Cargo shorts are your friend. I put my little Canon Elf in my pocket and make sure it's buttoned up. My wife just makes sure her DSLR is around her neck. We've always been fine.

We stopped using any type of bag years ago. It is soooo freeing. I use a capture clip for my SLR and everything else goes in my pocket.

I am actually "dreading" our next trip since we will have baby twins and all the accouterments that go along with two babies.
