I am trying to find a cheap way to send bottled water to our hotel the night before our cruise (next Saturday). If I do and we bring a case will they send it with our checked luggage. Has anyone done this and would suggest ordering from a specific store/website? I am finding minimum for Staples and read Costco doesn't ship anymore.

just clarifying, it is not going to be checked through to the ship, correct? you have to carry on any liquids.

You're not supposed to check liquids (booze, water, soda) in your checked luggage.
It's not like in a hotel where they bring your luggage to your room on a small cart.
They use a fork lift to put the bags on the ship. If the bottles get crushed it could mess up others luggage.

The water on the ship is filtered and tastes very good. :) You can bring large drink cups and refill those thru the day at the drink stations.

We put one of the luggage tags on our case of water and it was delivered to our cabin with our luggage

All liquids are suppose to be carried on. If anyone reports that they got their water, alcohol or soda on with the luggage tags or in their chhecked luggage know this is technically against Disney's policy and can result in fines and even confiscation. The bag handlers at the port don't work for Disney so to them if it has a tag it goes on the ship. If your water or other liquids break open and leak onto others property they can and have figured out where the leak originated and charged that cabin for the cleaning and replacement of other damanged goods.

This is against DCL rules. The porters don't work for DCL and they will allow things that are against DCL rules. Liquids must be carried on. I bought a really great water bottle that will clip on to a bag or you can carry it by the loop. It's so easy just to fill it up. I could even put lemonade or whatever I want and it's so cheap and environmentally friendly so I just wanted to throw that idea out there.

How long is your cruise? If not very long, you can just buy 2 x 6-packs and carry them on (you'll still be way ahead of what DCL charges). You can buy a 24 pack and just have a suitcase devoted to the 24 pack (If it doesn't fit, separate the bottles from the box). For your extra clothing that was going to be in the carry-on suitcase, expand your other suitcases.

This is a great suggestion. If you have a carry on bag with wheels you can put your water in there. The wheels will make it easier to manage and you don't break any rules.

I have had to wash and dry a complete suitcase of clothes because someones case of water soaked all of my clothes and another time my bag was soaked with wine that broke in a checked bag. Doing laundry the first night on board is not the way I like to start my vacation. Please carry all beverages on with you.

We use a small collapsible luggage rack with wheels to haul our Diet Dr. Pepper onboard. There are several brands available. Just do a Google search, or check ebay. Our 12-packs have to go through the scanner in security, just like all other carry-on luggage, but it's not a big deal to unhook the bungee cords and send all the cans through the scanner, then put the cans back on the rack and reattach the bungee cords after the screening.

We also bought a case of water on one cruise, but it was outrageously overpriced, so we won't do that again.

Hmm. I guess this means we will need to buy a water package for my son's medical needs. He uses a liter a day for his oral rehydration solution (powdered pedialyte essentially) and because he is missing half of his intestines we really DO have to use bottled water for it if it is not from our home water supply, that he is used to at this point. major brand name is fine, so It doesnt have to be distilled, though he does also need distilled water for his bipap. We have so much medical equipment that we have to carry on I don't think it is practical for us to carry on his water too.

If you are on a 7 night cruise, a liter a day would translate to about a 24pk of water. You could use a collapsible luggage cart like the PP mentioned above to wheel the case of water plus some of the medical equipment on. I'd also suggest contacting DCL's Special Services group to see if there is something they can do to help you. The number is (407) 566-3602.

I agree to place a call to DCL. If it is for medical purposes, they may provide it to you ( its a BIG may, but never hurts to ask) -

I also agree to contact DCL since this is a special need and not just a "want". DCL provides distilled water for CPap machines (we had had it delivered to the cabin on several cruises). Since this is a medical issue contact DCL and maybe they can have the water you need provided in the cabin or let you make special arrangements for water.

I'll also suggest emailing DCL as they happily provide water for CPAP machines. Special services are also who you could talk to about other needs like extension cords etc.

Thank you, I will. And... since he won't be eating ANYTHING on the cruise (he is strictly tube fed and occasionally gets nutrition through his IV access) perhaps that may also help!

Thanks for the info on this everyone! I drink tons of water. Now that I know I can drink the tap water I won't worry about lugging tons of bottles on!
