Bringing Alcohol on board Questions. What about canned margaritas? Can you bring singles?

I know we can bring a six pack but can they be 6 individual bottles or cans or they they actually have to be in the “six pack packaging”?

I have a big case of the cider I’d love to take with me & wondering if I can just take 6 out of the case or do I need to buy more?

Can I bring canned margaritas that are sold at beer & wine stores (not hard liquor stores)?

This is the official policy (https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/faq/prohibited-items/carrying-alcohol-onboard/):
Disney Cruise Line Guests 21 years and older may bring a maximum of 2 bottles of unopened wine or champagne (no larger than 750 ml) or 6 beers (no larger than 12 ounces) on board at the beginning of the voyage and at each port of call.

There is no rule that the beers must be bound together in a 6-pack. There is no official permission for alcohol that is not beer, wine, or champagne.

Disney's official policy as shown above is beer only. Some people have reported that they were able to take on ciders or hard seltzers, but it really depends on the person doing the security check. So, your cider might be confiscated. Canned cocktails, as they contained distilled alcohol, are not permitted.

We were on the Fantasy last summer. Three adult age, two people brought beer and one person took a 6 pack of ciders. All were cans and in original cardboard packaging. I would think you could mix and match variety in box and just secure it back up more for secure of contents reason than trying to hide. I haven't seen many canned alcohol beverages containing actual hard alcohol, more beer based, but I am the wine drinker. It is still six drinks as opposed to a bottle of alcohol that can make many drinks.

Worst case should be that you get it back after the cruise. You can for example buy tequila in Mexico during the cruise, or Rum in Jamaica etc. But you hand it in and get it back at end of cruise. Why shouldn’t they deal with it the same way at check in. You might want to bring something for the part of your vacation after the cruise.

I really think Disney can’t just throw people’s stuff away.

You are correct that purchases made in port are collected and returned at debarkation. However the policy is clear that alcohol confiscated at embarkation will not be returned:

from the DCL website (bolding is mine):
  • Alcohol packed in checked luggage will be removed and not returned and no compensation will be offered.
  • All alcohol brought on board must be in an original unopened container. Partially used bottles and those in which the seal is broken are prohibited.
  • Any wine or champagne in excess of 2 bottles or beer in excess of 6 beers is prohibited and must be discarded prior to entry and no compensation offered.
  • Liquors or spirits or excess wine and beer purchased in ports of call will be stored until the end of the cruise.
  • Guests must retrieve stored alcohol at the end of the cruise. Items not retrieved will be discarded and no compensation will be offered.
  • Alcohol brought on board may not be consumed in any lounge or public area.
