My mom will be coming with us in Sept. We are renting a minivan. We are also renting a scooter for her. Is the scooter easy to get in/out of the car?
Also, we are bringing her handicap permit and I was wondering if we are going to have to drop her off and then the rest of us park and take the tram or is the handicap parking walkable for all of us who will be with her (6 people). Thanks

Depending on the ECV, it can be broken down into parts weighing 10-30 lbs each. You may want to ask your vendor- they can also show you how to dissamble/reassemble the ECV. Note that these can take space in your vehicle.

With the disabled tag, you can park in disabled parking. No need to drop anyone off.

Parking in the disabled parking area may add a few (2 or 3 minute at most) walk for the rest of the party from where the tram drops you off at TTC. The other parks are closer.

The handicap parking at MK is nowhere near a tram, so you'll need to walk a bit. It's clearly meant for folks who can wheel their way to the front. I have a handicap tag because I can't walk long distances so we park in the regular lot, show our tag to park at the front of the line, then take the tram.

You Can't put an ecv on the tram. If you're not mobility impaired, it's not a very long walk and you can stay together. At all parks other than the MK, handicapped Parkin is very close.

We rented a scooter from Walker Mobility for my DH who had hip replacement surgery upon our return and used the handicap parking area on our trip last month. We were going to rent the basic $20/day scooter but then decided to get the next larger size because it could be out in the rain and the battery lasted longer. We had a Toyota Corolla rental and we were assured that the scooter would fit in the trunk. Well, the scooter that was delivered was a pain in the rear to take apart and it did not fit in the trunk easily. On our first day we could not get all of the pieces in the trunk so my DS had to hold a large piece in his lap which ended up getting grease spots on his shorts and grease spots on the seat of this brand spanking new car (It had 6 miles on it when we picked it up).

Then it rained and the scooter would not start. Walker came the next day and switched scooters for us. It was the same scooter, but this one was much easier to take apart and had cases for the batteries (the first one did not). The new one also fit in the trunk nicely with a little room to spare. We were always able to park right up front. We got much better at assembling and disassembling the scooter, but there's one large piece that will need to be lifted and is heavy. if you get to the parks by at least an hour after opening you will be able to park pretty close to the park entrances with a very short walk. We took the boat to Epcot and once to HS from our resort, but then decided it was still much faster to drive to HS and unload the scooter. I would not mess with dropping off, parking, and taking the tram if you can park in the handicap area.
