* Note, we live in a lake community that was originally built as a summer neighborhood. Houses are within feet of each other and no one has a driveway, only parking spots in a row that face the houses. This will be important later*

This morning, I needed to quickly let my dog out before leaving for work. She was wandering around the front yard as I went and started my car. Realizing I did not have my sunglasses, I left my driver's side door open, and went back inside my house. I grabbed the sunglasses and then called my dog back into the house. As I was a bit late, I jumped into my car, put it in drive and pulled out of my spot. I left our development area and pulled out onto the main road. I drove for about thirty seconds on the main road before casually glancing in my rearview mirror.
Sitting delicately on top of the backseat is one of my neighbor's eighteen cats.
Now, as I was already running late, I did debate for an 1/8 of a second about whether I should perhaps just take the cat to work with me. This second passed, and I dropped the hitchhiker off at his destination.
The kitty cost me a good 10 more minutes, as when I got back on the road, I was stuck behind a Honda Pilot with the license plate "FANILOW1" who was going 15 miles below the speed limit....for about 25 minutes...
Now I guess I should get off the DIS and start the work I was in such a rush to get to :lmao:

LOL, that's hilarious. :rotfl:

My cat would *love* to run around my office. Unfortunately, I don't think she would like the subway so much.

I have to admit - when I read the title of your thread - I had visions of screaming and clawing cats being forced in their carriers and driven to work only to hiss at all the other cats and hide under the desk.

Nice of you to drive the stowaway home!

That's so funny! You were very kind to drive the cat back home instead of just dumping him/her at the side of the road.

Your neighbor has 18 cats? Wow - I wonder if she would have missed that one? The cat was probably trying to escape the overcrowding and you thwarted her plan.

That's hilarious! :lmao:

I left the car door open one time and ran back into the house to get something, and when I returned to the car, found my 125 lb Lab sitting in the passenger seat, looking straight ahead, still as could be. I think he was hoping I wouldn't notice him and he could go for a nice car ride. :)

Funny! That cat sounds like he was intrigued with the idea of going for a ride. :)

Yo, whazzup?

There was a few instances where my cat came to work with me. My boss was pretty good. Very small company in a former house. It was just easier to make vet appt before work in same town, go to work with cat, then go home. Instead of driving 20+ miles back home to return cat, and 20+ miles back to work. She needed vet appts every other day for a little while while DH wasn't around to take care of her treatment.

Anyway, after first couple hours, kitty found a closet upstairs where we stored holiday decorations & just made herself at home for a nap for the day. Its where she went each time. :goodvibes Nice & quiet.

I even set up her litter box & food in the bathroom at the office.

Building had mice in the basement, but she was of no help there.

There were only like 3 other employees. Others have brought their dogs to work on occasion due to certain circumstances. She was the first and only kitty though. :goodvibes

:rotfl: A stowaway!
That he was! I find him sleeping on mine hood all the time, but I guess he wanted to get cozy!

I live in NY, and I took the MTA to the city one day. A man had a beagle with him and he told me that the dog had been riding the train all of her 16 years-- the dog had better standing balance than I do!

My mom once had to bring a dog to work after she had been fixed-- she literally slept the whole 6 hours. I definitely don't think I could bring mine and DBF's dog! She'd want to make friends with everyone haha. I would not be a fan of cats roaming around here!

Thanks-- I had to drive her back or I would have been worried about her the whole day! Haha-- she probably did want to escape! Their one mama cat keeps getting pregnant and they keep all of the kittens.

That's hilarious! :lmao:

Haha, cute story ;).
Thanks, it definitely added some excitement to my commute.

I think he likes cars-- like I said, she loves to sleep on my hood. Often, she'll curl under DBF's car, too-- we ALWAYS check to make she or none of the others are under either car!

Hey, if she's a good kitty, that's nice! I'm not a cat person, personally-- DBF's parents have one that loves to sleep on computer keyboards. That would really inhibit my work! If there was a nice napping cat, like yours, though, here, I wouldn't mind!
