I believe about two or three years ago, The Disney Channel stopped airing vintage Disney programming. I miss those late-night shows, such as EPCOT's opening day, Disney's World of Color, etc.

How can be band together and get these shows back? Am I the only one who misses this? How can the current programming result in more viewers? Whose kids are up at 2am?

I do have to say that I love the daytime lineup for kids, as my kids adore Kim Possible, Lizzie, the Recess group, Raven, etc, but at night I could do without non stop reruns of Sister Sister and Boy meets world. I would be more apt to watch some inside Disney documentaries like they have on travel channel than the same reruns that were on ABC 8 years ago.

I remember as a child excitedly watching The Wonderful World of Disney on Sunday nights.

I'd love to see them air those old episodes.

I totally agree with prince eric. It is hard for me to believe that the teens old enough to stay up watching T.V. til 11pm are tuning in to see those reruns of '90's tweener shows!

HOWEVER, with the success of travel channel, HGTV etc, why doesn't Disney add some original evening programming like Disney Travel, cooking with the Disney Chefs, design with the Disney Decorators etc???

Along with that I would love some of those Disney classic shows too!

Folks, I'm moving this to the community board since it is neither a rumor or news.

My boys(5 and 3) fell in love with the vintage cartoons when we stayed at WDW. They preferred to watched them over the regular Disney channel programs.

I used to love to watch The Mickey Mouse Club...for years I thought they would bring it back when N'Sync, Britney and Christina became popular...I love to see what people used to look like compared to now....but they never did:( .

They also used to have a show called Inside Out...the host was JD Roth and they would have a segment each week about a specific area of WDW.. this was in 1994-1995. I remember when they did a special on the Disney Institute. That would be cool to see something like that again.

DH and I liked to watch Zorro and the show with the boys at a horse ranch camp? "the Adventures of...??"

Spin and Marty!!

I would love a Spin and Marty Marathon!!

I've written numerous letters to Disney about this and never received any response. It was bad enough when they banished classic Disney programming to the middle of the night, but when they got rid of it altogether, that was the last straw for me.

Maybe if everyone starts writing, they'll do something about it. Get your typing fingers ready and send them an e-mail guys.:D

Do you still have any of the letters you wrote? Did you mention specific tv shows? Maybe if you could share it with us, we might get kind of a template that we could modify to send. I think maybe if we had something to start with, it would be easy to modify and send and a lot more people would send in. Sometimes it's hard to come up with something from scratch. Not to mention, with the typos I make on these boards, who knows what I might end up requesting that I didn't intend to say.:rotfl: :rotfl:

Thanks and pixiedust to you

Well there is no way I can boycott the whole channel because my kids would revolt. But I remember the night before our first Disney trip, unable to sleep, watching MMC and Zorro on Disney channel. I still get insomnia sometimes and would sure rather watch that then the informercials.
Boy Meets World will be starting next week on the ABC family channel (formerly fox family channel) so perhaps it won't run on Disney channel anymore.
I'll write an EMail and see what happens.

I don't have them around anymore, some were e-mails that got deleted and others were handwritten snail mail. Basically, I told them how much the Vault Disney programming meant to me. That the shows brought back great memories and the wholesomeness was really refreshing in this era of "anything goes".

I also mentioned that I understood Disney was going for a young demographic, but I also said that it wasn't actually the younger demographic that was spending their money on Disney-related merchandise, and that includes theme park vacations. As far as I can recall, my daughter hasn't paid for any of our WDW vacations out of HER pocket.;)

It saddens me that nobody ever even responded to say "Get Lost" or anything. Maybe you folks will have better luck.

I'd love to see some of these old shows! I wish they'd bring them back! I'm with you!

Hey everyone!

I used Dan Murphy's URL (thanks Dan!):

which is an email comment form. I just emailed the below text. Feel free to copy and paste, and modify, to join in!

"Bring back the vintage late-night programming! I miss the old shows from the 1950s-early 1980s The Disney Channel used to broadcast late at night. I believe many adults enjoyed watching your channel when insomnia struck. Walt Disney Presents, the specials about the parks, etc., are being missed by many.

PLEASE BRING THEM BACK!"

I miss that live action Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. That was a riot to watch. It's not exactly vintage, but I only got to watch it while babysitting. We couldn't afford cable back then.

Inside Out was neat, too!
