If enough people speak out, will Disney bring back the old roomy 2 seat Matterhorn bobsled? The new bobsled is so uncomfortable and I got the worst leg cramps riding it. :crazy2: I can no longer ride my favorite Disneyland ride. :sad1:

If you're over six feet, it's now torture to ride. This was a huge Disney mistake. I'm not the only one who feels this way, a lot of my Disney friends agree with me. Please bring back the old seats!

I know, I know...Disney did this change so they can cram more people into the bobsled so they can speed up the line. Now the line will move faster because a lot of people can't ride it now. Major bummer! Disney has ruined a classic ride for a lot of people.

If Disney was smart, they would at least add the old 2 seat bobsled for adults over six feet. :mic:

I'm only 5'3" and got a rotten, long-lasting, bruise on my leg from it. It's just awful now.

FYI, though, even though it's not obvious unless you're a person that starts at the index of forums here, this Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies is only for WDW. Matterhorn discussion would be best had in the Disneyland forum here. :)

I know other theme parks will sometimes have at least 1 car that has modified seating for larger guests. I haven't ridden the new ones, and as a very pooh sized gal, I'm nervous to even try it.

That ride seems so jerky now, it always was but it's not a ride I enjoy anymore. With the old carts I used to like how I could anticipate a corner and protect my little one from it a little, now she'll have to sit by herself without my cushioning. I don't think my kids will like it anymore either after they ride it.

So many things wrong with the new sleds, other than ride capacity per car.

Raised height requiremt being one of the worst aspects.

The new sleds are terrible. Especially the front row. I am only 5'7" and I was miserable, my 6'1" DH was even more miserable.

The Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies board is for the discussion of Walt Disney World theme parks. I've moved this thread to the Disneyland board. :)

I do agree with you on this, too. I am a little person but I just loved the old seats because you got to snuggle up next to someone and we just laughed all the more hard as we got thrown around in the ride. I would definitely not be opposed to bringing them back.

I agree. I'm only 5'8" and I found it very uncomfortable. I can't imagine how it would be for someone 6' or over. The worst part for me was the bumpiness. My head was throbbing toward the end of the ride. I couldn't wait to get off!

I always liked it, even though it was rough, but riding it in February (with my two older kids) was awful. I felt like I was bracing myself to keep my head from rattling off. We rode the Fantasyland side - is the Tomorrowland side any smoother?

I agree that the new Bobsleds are uncomfortable, and I miss cuddling with my DGD on my lap. However, the reason for the change was not to speed up the line, as you posit (the new sleds hold only 3, rather than 4 as before). The reason was for legal liability. With the old arrangement, it was almost impossible for the CMs to ensure that everyone was buckled in. Now they can. I very much doubt that DLR will go back to the old system, unfortunately.

Agreed, they are terrible. In 2009 DH loved this ride with the old seats. In 2012, he rode it once and said never again! He is 6'1". Kids and I rode it fine but he just watched :(

I have always loved the Matterhorn, I still do but the new cars are definitely not an improvement.

I'm only 5-4 so height was not a problem, but the neck pain afterwards was. But I was thinking that might explain why the lines didn't seem as long this trip as in years past. Just a thought.

we actually skipped this ride last time...and we LOVED the matterhorn with the old sleds

I actually love that it's three to a sled rather than two - my family (as well as a lot of others) dislike lap sitting, so the capacity dropped. Making it so that there are always three people in each sled is much better.

That said, there needs to be a lot more padding on the sleds or shocks on the wheels. The bumpiness is really the only thing I'd change.

Love the ride.....still. BUT, I do wish for the old bobsleds! Riding solo, you could really lean into the turns.
They are meant to be like riding BOBSLEDS, though. Rough, bumpy, no padding, etc.!!!

i can't do the matterhorn anymore, which makes me sad because when i was little it was my favorite. i don't know if it's just that i'm a grown up now and the jerkiness/bumpiness isn't fun for me anymore or if it's because of the new seats. maybe it's a little bit of both. the last time i went on it, the whole time i just kept thinking, "i want to get off!" it makes my head (whole body really) hurt.
