I'm still here in FLA., but not at WDW
. We're at mom's...scheduled to leave on Wednesday.
In any case, I wanted to share some brief thoughts about where/what we ate. I'll do a 'full' report/trip report sometime after we get home.
We stayed at CSR, and we ate at the Pepper Market maybe 5 times while we were there. Mostly because it was convenient. It was VERY confusing the first time, even though I'd read about it here. Once we got the hang of it, we found that we really loved the convenience and very much enjoyed the food. Things we ate included:
Beef stir fry (my favorite, and the one thing I ate most often at WDW)
Pizza
Chicken ceasar salad (was my least favorite thing)
Nachos
Cheeseburger
In terms of overall EXPERIENCE (meaning the atmosphere, experience in general...but having nothing to do with food choice or quality) we both agreed the best was Coral Reef. Then again, it was our 1st anniversary and the whole dinner was amazing because of what they did for us. More on that in the 'full' report.
In terms of overall BEST MEAL (food-wise & not considering atmosphere, etc) for me, was a tie Le Cellier OR Yacht Club Galley. DH hasn't given me his opinion on this category.
At LC I had: Cheese soup, Sauteed shrimp with spicy sausage, spinach, garlic and lemon over linguine, and the only sugar-free dessert they had: Citrus mousse with a raspberry whipped cream. The whole meal was awesome. I was there solo, so DH has no food-input on this.
At YCG I had: Spinach dip (we all shared...DH and I and my mom and step-dad), braised beef 'sandwich' with balsamic glaze, and their SF (or no sugar added?) dessert: a chocolate brownie with chocolate and mango sauces.
I wrote down what everyone had at every restaurant and will include all of that in the 'full' report.
In terms of one single menu item that was the best...I think DH and I agree it was the Fried Herbed Cheese at 50's PTC. We ate there a second time just to have this again. It's basically what seems like cream cheese, fried, and served with toast and fruit. YUMMY!
Some misc. thoughts:
I do NOT think we'd have ordered an appetizer, meal AND dessert PER PERSON for EVERY MEAL if it weren't for the DDP. That being said, I think it was an AWESOME deal and am glad we had it. Some of our meals would have been $40-$60 without it...and that would have made me sad: To see that cash coming out of my pocket each time.
Even without appetizers, we would have spent a ton because DH and I eat many small meals a day. This way, we ate what we could and put the leftovers in the CSR fridge for 'later'. We shared meals twice and ate an extra (late) meal our last night just to use up our CS credits. We really could have shared MOST meals, as the portions were huge.
We'd get two meals, sometimes, out of one. We sometimes left extra tips when the service was excellent. It more often than not WAS excellent, despite my being fearful that the DDP puts staff members off. They add an 18% gratuity to DDP meals....In 'real life' I usually tip 20% (unless service sucks...then 15%) so leaving extra was our pleasure.
Every restaurant but one had sugar-free or no sugar added desserts. Rose & Crown had nothing NSA or SF, so all I could do was have a cup of coffee after my meal (which was very good--the coffee that is). Some places just had SF or NSA ice cream....which is better than nothing, but not quite DESSERT when I'm on vacation. LOL
I even tried the NSA or SF vanilla ice cream cup DH bought at the AK cart...was pretty good...but boring. Just vanilla ice cream.
So...that's a brief note on my thoughts. A full report maybe next weekend when I have time to read my notes and type alot. *Sigh* Back to work on Thursday.
I don't know when I'll be checking email again before we come home, but feel free to ask any questions until I post the full report.
Have a great day!
