We have seen a fantastic villa - exactly what we want/need. It's in a gated community called Bridgewater Crossing - details say "A private development of executive homes, set amidst 165 acres of wetland nature reserve. Bridgewater Crossing was voted community of the year in 1999 and continues to live up to this high standard. It is located on Highway CR54 and Old Wilson Road, close to Interstate 4 and just 5 miles from Walt Disney World©."

We don't need anything right next door to Disney, we're happy to drive back and forth to all the parks, but obviously not too far (one superb villa, totally lush, was in southern dunes, but I think it is near Haines City which is a bit further out).

Another villa is in Indian Creek, which I have a rough idea of where it is.

We don't know the Kissimmee/192/U27 area at all, we've always stayed onsite or in hotels in IDrive/LBV, so total novices to both villa renting and the area.

So please help if you know this area!

We stayed at Bridgewater a couple of years past, it was definitly not 5 miles from Disney... It was the furthest away I have ever stayed!!

Looked at Indiand Creek also this year as we had been looking at a villa there, this is a definite no no !!! There is a massive road being built right in the middle of the resort, this is also affecting Windsor Palms and Oak Island.

Thanks for your honest reply - much appreciated.

I think we will kick this villa into touch. Whilst it was beautiful, surrounded by lakes and countryside, perhaps not in the best of locations. We don't mind being 20-30 mins drive away from the parks, but if the roadworks contribute to an even longer journey I guess you could be looking at an additional 2 hrs off our park days with travelling :sad2:

Oh well, back to the drawing board.

I'm just about to post another thread asking about the Lindfield and Lakeside Park areas, two very nice villas have come up in both of these locations

Hi Annie,
Just replied to your other villa question.

I agree with Martina about Bridgewater and it is in the Davenport area, which we think is too far south.

I sort of disagree about Indian Creek though, we returned from a 2 week stay there last month and although we could see the roadworks from the bridge -
that you drive over to reach the homes - where we stayed was a long way away from any building work, so I guess it depends on what part of IC you are staying, it didn't affect us at all.
Our first villa booking was a 10 year old home in the Davenport area and was a nightmare, hence we only book homes now that are just a few years old, they get a lot of stick from the weather and need good owners to keep them maintained.
Consequently, on subsequent trips I have done a lot of research plus driven round plenty of estates, in the Formosa Gardens area you also have Formosa Gardens, Rolling Hills and Windsor Palms, however on RH/FG most of the nicer homes tend to be 5/6/7 bedrooms and whilst WP is possibly the best, IC has 3/4/5 bedrooms and plenty to suit all budgets.
Plus easy access to the 192 with restaurants etc, Publix Supermarket only a few minutes away plus Disney and I4 too.

Thanks Johnny.

I filled in a general enquiry form to a couple of the villa rental agencies and am now getting a few back with availability. Do you know anything about Eagle Point - there's a couple of nice ones there that don't look too bad.

I've looked at a few which are down the Poinciana Blvd end. I've read horror stories about the 192 roadworks, how will this affect some of the areas we are looking at. We will be spending our week half Disney half Universal. Don't mind sitting in the car for 20-30 minutes, not a problem.

Since you're obviously an expert on villas, what do you think to someone who has offered a 4bd/3br - lovely condition by the virtual tour - for £395 all in! I am very cautious and they tell me its because they know it will be let that week (we're going Weds to Weds) . . . it looks too good to be true, a don't know what to do  :confused3 :badpc: :badpc: :rolleyes1

you can easily avoid the road works on the 192 if staying down Poinciana and its an easy fairly quick drive to the parks from here...probably 15-20 to disney and 30 min to universal. theres a back road (Oren Brown) that takes you to Walmart on the 192 avoiding the rd works...only 5mins from Eagle Point, Indian Pont, and Terra Verde.

I know some great sites for villas if your interested...dont know if Im allowed to post on here.

hope this helps

Hi Annie,

You mention Villa Rental agencies, have you tried private owners, you very often get a better deal this way.
Our very first visit to Orlando was back in 1996 and we stayed in a villa at Lindfields, and have stayed at various locations since.

This year we are staying in a villa at Highlands Reserve on the US27 (Davenport) and in 2003 we stayed at Calabay Parc again on the 27. We do not find the distance a problem.
If you would like any further info just PM as I know what it is like the first time.

Hi Annie,
I have just responded to your personal message - the roadworks on the 192 will not affect you if you are staying on Poinciana, the RW start further on near where the Walmart is.

As I said send us the link about the villa and I will have a look at it for you.

Thanks to everyone for your help :cool1:

Villa's now booked in Eagle Point - looks beautiful, so since that's the last of the planning (I think :rotfl2: ), can't wait till August now.
