Trying to figure out best time to upgrade to maximize benefits (incl. Memory Maker/Photo Pass) - should I do it before entering first day or after entering park?

We're arriving on a red eye at 6 am, taking ME and plan to drop carry-on bags at Poly then head directly to MK for rope drop (or as early as we can get there if too late for rope drop). Have 1st FP+ 9:45-10:45. Will be entering on Parksavers 10 day tix (already linked to reservation) that we plan to upgrade to Gold AP's (we're DVC members). Question is whether it makes a difference if we do it at Guest Relations BEFORE we enter the park or AFTER we enter the park (will be the same day either way). We want to get Magicbands linked to Photo Pass as early in the day as possible.

Thanks!

It doesn't matter. Do it whenever it's most convenient for you. Make sure to bring your DVC card and also photo ID for each adult 18+.

We did it just 2 weeks ago before heading in to Epcot. We went through the IG, but before we even used our tix, we upgraded to APs (we had 7 day hoppers from Parksavers) We have ZERO issues upgrading to the correct price, even though we didn't use the ticket prior.

It was very, very easy!

In regard to the AP Memory Maker benefit, when we upgraded to AP Gold last December all the PhotoPass photos we had taken in the previous year showed back up in my PhotoPass account. So just make sure you have a PhotoPass account linked to your MDE account and you'll get all your photos whether taken before you upgrade or after.

The upgrade to Memory Maker is one of the reasons we're upgrading; I didn't sign up for it yet because I didn't want to pay extra since its included in the AP.

Guess we'll play upgrade timing by ear depending on what time we get to MK (our park for arrival day).
