Hi It's me again, I was thinking of renting a 8 psgr van to get to port canveral the evening before and staying at a Inn. Or, driving from the airport to port canaveral to the cruise but I DO NOT CROSS BRIDGES, are there any bridges to cross?????????

Depends on your definiton of a bridge...

Do overpasses count?

What about a causeway?

No bridges, if the Golden Gate or Mackinaw Bridge is your standard.

There are several points where air and/or water moves under the road.

It's not at all a scary bridge. It's pretty much like any Interstate-style overpass.

I'm guessing that if you have a bridge phobia, you wouldn't like the bridges over the Indian River or the Banana River.

If you are going to go on this cruise...then you are gonna have to go across some bridges.

I don't like bridges either.....I used to hide in the floor board of the car when I was a kid....

I still close my eyes and just hang on.....................

Wow Phyllis! Remind me to have a couple of really stiff drinks before I get in the car when you're driving!:p :p :p

I thought you were talking about playing cards with little ol' blue haired ladies:p ! I share the bridge phobia and my husband goes out of his way to avoid high bridges when I'm in the car...my "freakin out" behavior scares him!!

OH YEAH......it's a lot of fun to go over bridges with your eyes closed when you're driving......lol I also keep my eyes closed when I back down my driveway!!!!

Seriously though...we live an hour from Savannah, GA....to get to SAV you have to cross this HUGE HIGH bridge.....Years ago....DH
sent me to SAV to buy paint(before we had paint stores here)
This bridge was a million years old...one of those metal things
with a top and the roadway you could see through....anyway...
I got to the very top and had to stop because I was having an
anxiety attack!!!!!!!!!!!! From then on until they tore that one down and built the new one...I refused to go over it. If we went to SAV we'd have to detour!!!!

HATE BRIDGES.....but to go on a DCL cruise...I'd go over a million of them!!!!!!!!

Thank you so much, i am from long island and to get to the city I go through the tunnel. I am so glad that I am not alone with my phobia. Close my eyes and drive over I think I'll pass on that. Guess I'll be hiring transportation.

RESES....

How do you do the tunnels????? I don't think I could breath...thats why I don't do the excursions that go under water.....

I'm teasing about closing my eyes and holding on while I drive....I only close my eyes and hold on when somebody else is driving....

See you're not the only one with a phobia......let me DH tell you about heights!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You'll be so excited about seeing the ship...you won't even think about a bridge.........

I hope you'll be able to walk across the gangway to get on the ship. It's 3 stories up and you can definitely see down to the dock below. I wonder if they'll let you enter from the pier on to deck 1.....

lol - I thought you were afraid of going where the captain drives the boat:p

guess none of you have had the pleasure of going through some of the snow passes in the central rockies in colorado...

nice slender, hardley 2 lane roads with a nice high mountain side on one side of the car, with a good 400+ foot drop on the other.. if your brave enough to look down you usually have to put your head outside of the car to see ground......my grandmother left nail imprints in my arm.. a few bled and she was on the mountain side of the car.

I did when I was in high school. We took a family vacation with my aunt and uncle and caravaned in two cars. I rode with my uncle, who is afraid of heights. He drove up the mountain on the wrong side of the road!!! When we got to the top, I was not allowed to ride with them EVER AGAIN!!!

YOU CAN DO IT...look what is on the other side! YOU CAN DO IT. You have too! :Pinkbounc

Is the problem DRIVING across the bridge or just crossing it period? We've taken a towncar in the past, but with 8 people you wouldn't fit. I think DH checked into a limo when our friends were talking about going with us. It was cheaper than 2 towncars, but I don't know the price. Some of the hotels have a shuttle to get you to the ship the next morning. Hope this helps. If you want the info on the limo, send me a PM and I'll get back to you.

I'm sorry, but tunnels are WAY more scary than bridges. If a bridge collapses, at least I have a fighting chance of swimming and getting oxygen to my lungs. If a tunnel collapses, you have nowhere to go! I'm from NYC too and I HATE tunnels, give me a bridge any day!
