we are booked on the 7 night eastern Magic and am wondering when these tours are offered? and when do i need to sign up and pick up the tickets for each? also, is there a tour of the engine room? thanks:tongue:

These tours are scheduled at different times so check the Navigators or check with Guest Services for times.

We took the galley tour and you met in the atrium outside Lumieres and they gave out tickets for times, basically dividing those who came in groups fo 20 or so and sent groups in staggered intervals iwth a chef leading each group. I thought the Galley tour was very interesting and the hot chocolate chip cookie at the end was a bonus.

I don't think they're allowed to offer tours of the engine room for security and safety reasons.

Does anyone know if kids are allowed on the Galley tour? DD7 is a huge Food Channel fan, especially the "Unwrapped" shows. She loves to see how things are made.

Thanks!
Lynne

We took the bridge tour and really enjoyed it! We went to guest services as soon as we boarded and made the request.

The galley tour is listed in the navigator as 18 and up.

FYI, I don't think a 7 year old would find the tour as interesting as Unwrapped since the tours are held when there isn't much activity in the galleys. They really don't show that much of how things are made, more discussion about the setup and what's done. Mom, aunt, DD25 and I really enjoyed it but I think the statistics and discussion that is interesting to an adult would be boring for a kid.

thanks! another question. i know the bridge tour is while the ship is in port. is there time for an excurison or shopping? thanks:tongue:

We made ours for the afternoon we were at CC. It was at 3 pm and since all aboard is 4:30, we didn't feel cheated! We were on the Western.

Watch the Navigator for a posted time to pick up tickets. I got mine at the Excursion Desk around 11:45 am for a 2:45 pm tour. They take groups of 18 or so through the tour, which is basically a walk through the galley from Lumiere's to Parrot Cay. The kitchens were absolutely spotless! The tour lasts about 30 min.

One note: I'm about 5 ft tall and ended up at the back of the line. I couldn't see about half the time and missed about half the talk (the head chef also had a strong accent). If you want to see everything, make sure to push your way to the front. :)
