Bridge an annual pass renewal - Is there any way . . . . . . .

OK - I know my way around pretty well, but this may be asking for too much. My annual pass expires 1 week before our return trip. I save all year for the trip, and do not want to put anything on a credit card. SO - - - - I purchased a 5 day pass from AAA so I can book FP. When I arrive, I enter the park and then bridge to an annual pass. HOWEVER, this time I want to renew by current annual pass and bridge the 5 day pass for payment.

Of course, when I call Disney to check on this, the answer is "Depends on who is at Guest Services". In my perfect world, I can bridge, but I think I have to be prepared to just renew my annual pass, and bank the 5 day. That also means I can not enter the park until I confirm, but I need to enter the park to get my best value on the bridge. Please share thoughts if any of you have experienced a similar issue. Fingers crossed.

Thanks Lovesdumbo. If that is possible - I AM HAPPY. I still think I will drop into Guest Relations before I use my 5 day pass for entry, just to make sure I can renew with a bridge. It scared me when the folks at Disney could not confirm or deny. I guess this one is not in their 'play book'

You can use your 5 day to bridge a renewal, I've done it.

You can use a bridged ticket for a renewal. I too have done it many times.

We have an AP and 5 day park hoppers from a package. The 5 day phs become active in June and the AP expires Nov 30th. We will be going to Disney Dec 3rd. If we decide to renew our AP's then I want to be able to both bridge the tickets and still get the discount for renewing the AP within 30 days of expiration. We we be able to get the discount? Do we have to use the tickets once before we try to bridge the AP?

Curious as well. I received a PIN/UOC with free PH for 6d ticket and would like to "bridge" then use to renew AP in Nov. I'm not sure if they bridge tickets from a WDW package though...

I think she's asking can she use a bridged ticket AND get the renewal price discount - is that what you're answering? saying you have done that exact thing before?

edited to add I ask because it sounds like double dipping somehow (which we know Disney tries to avoid letting people do...)

My DD has used tickets from vacation packages with us to renew her FL resident pass even when a price increase had occurred in between.

Yes, I was asking if I can still get the AP renewal discount when bridging 5 day ph tickets.

I still don't know the answer. I would hate to use the 5 day tickets and then be told that I can't get the AP renewal discount with the bridged tickets.

I agree, make sure the CM you get knows how to do it at the bridged price. I've never done exactly what you are trying to do, but I have attempted to bridge tickets. In my experience, it took a while. I also had to get a manager.

You probably won't need it, but if possible, I'd also bring your AAA receipt - a photo or an electric copy on your phone will do.

Another BIG suggestion I have- RUN YOU NUMBERS!!! - if you only visit WDW a few times each year. You may be better off letting the AP expire.

A new Plat AP is $800. A renewal is $676, which = about $56 per month. The difference is ONLY $124, which = 2.2 months

So if your current trip is before the pass expires, but your NEXT visit is more than 67 days away (about 2.2 months), letting the current AP expire and buying a new one is a better deal! Your NEW pass will be good for all of those additional days/months. At least at CURRENT prices. Next year might be different.

This is one of very, very few ticket-related things I would say to do at Guest Relations instead of a ticket window.

The price bridging part is easy, but applying a MYW ticket to the cost of an AP renewal isn't something we're trained to do (At least, I never was, and neither were any of my co-workers who I asked about it, including a trainer), and there's no procedure for it in our documentation. I can think of two ways I could make the computer do it, but I have no idea which one would be correct.

But yeah, know how much your ticket is worth, know what the renewal price is, and know what the appropriate difference should be. If anything seems off, ask for a coordinator or talk to a different CM.

Thanks for the information. We would be trying to bridge the ticket for an AP renewal at the Epcot International Gateway. Would they be more or less likely to be able to do this correctly, or would I be better off at a bigger guest services window. I would rather sit on the tickets for another year than to lose the discount on the AP renewal.

IG has a Guest Relations window and a ticket window (technically called Vacation Planning). They share CMs with the main entrance area, so it shouldn't really matter, there's just fewer of them back there.

If you want Guest Relations like I recommended, talk to the people wearing the navy blue and plaid costumes. Vacation Planning wears a white collared shirt with a red/orange/purple vest. (Except at DAK, but that's not relevant here.)

I have done such renewals at Downtown Disney, HollyWood Studios and Epcot, one's as good as the next.

And no, you won't lose the discount.

Just because it hasn't been said yet in this thread:

Be sure to know exactly what the current gate value is of the ticket you're bridging and the cost of the renewal and know what you should be paying so that when the CM tells you how much it will be you know immediately if they are doing it correctly.

GREAT ADVICE. I will certainly have my numbers so I know what it should be.

I think my strategy will be to check with Guest Relations before I use my 5 day to confirm that they will do this, then I will enter with my 5 day and upgrade the renewal later in the day.
