Okay, this is not something I've watched before although I was aware of it and had seen snippets. Yesterday about 5pm I walk in from doing the dishes and DH has it on. He tells me I've got to see this, so I sit.

There is this woman on named Megan, and her fiance Corey. I know his name is Corey because she bellowed every 35 seconds. The show starts with him telling the camera she forced him to ask her out and bullied him into getting engaged. And then tells the stories to back it up.

And then we sat through 2 episodes where she berates and abuses not only her fiance but her parents, the DJ, her bridesmaids, his friends, pretty much anyone in the frame.

Now, maybe there are guys that like to be treated this way, (in which case :confused3 ) but she told one of her bridesmaids she looked like a clown and told another one she was fat. She'd have been kissing my fat clown butt. I told DH if it had been me, I'd have smiled and nodded and then just not shown up the day of the wedding. And hopefully convinced the rest of the wedding party to do the same.

I just had to post this because I was so amazed at the whole thing. Not the least of which is you go on TV to show the world you are an uber-unDISfriendly word?

Oh, and the chick who does the voiceover for the show cracked me up. :lmao:

I've only seen promos for this show and wonder why would anyone want to watch silly little girls acting like obnoxious toddlers... :confused3

I spent my 20s with Bridezillas, hated it then... aVOID them now. :surfweb:

I'm not sure about Bridezilla in particular, but I know that the brides are usually paid to act that way. One of my friends is a wedding cake decorator who came across someone who signed up for the show. She (the bride) told my friend that the company was paying for her wedding and honeymoon for her to create drama. My friend decided to pass on that cake!!

ETA: Some people are just crazy to begin with though!!

This is one reason I avoid as many "real life" shows as possible. I know a wedding can be stressful but dang, these women on the promo need psych evaluations.

I have watched the show a few times. I have wondered if the show is fake in a lot of ways. I only watch the show if there is nothing else on.

I love the fact that your DH was the one watching this. :lmao: When my DH walks into the room and sees I'm watching it, he does an about face and immediately leaves the room, telling me to let him know when it's safe to return.

This totally needs to be your new tag, pal. :rotfl:

I have to say that this show is one of my guilty pleasures. I don't care if it is all fake--I LOVE to watch these women act absolutely bat-crap crazy. It's so far out of my realm of experience that I find it hilarious.

Did you see the one where the bridal couple had a "sexy" dance which included the groom slapping the bride's behind? :rotfl2: They were the same couple who were asking for donations to pay for the reception. It makes me laugh to think of all the DIS'ers who freak out about cash bars.

I've missed you, pal! Now you need to watch Toddlers and Tiaras.

I have watched the show on and off until I just got so annoyed with it. There was one episode with a woman whose fiance got her thick lovely platinum ring, she took one look at it and said "Where are the diamonds" then she goes on about it until she threw it in the wine. she left in a huff. I just couldn't stomach it anymore so I turned it off.

Believe it or not, my husband was also the one watching this show yesterday! I had to sit through 3 hours of it while he watched.

We saw the couple you mentioned, who collected money at their wedding. That was great. Her idea for her groom's cake was totally nauseating.

Like many reality shows, Bridezillas has a healthy does of fiction in it. The couples are encouraged to make scenes and create drama in return for incentives/prizes. For example, brides in one season were told that the couples whose clips were chosen for teasers would get a free honeymoon or other prizes. I remember one couple was having dinner in a restaurant and some other diners posted a blog that they were told a couple was going to come in and have a big fight for a tv show and they were asked if they wanted to change seats or leave.

I have read about how the producers verbally encourage fights and give prizes on several websites, but I no longer have the links -- so you can believe me or not. Your choice.

I saw that episode too! It was her thrid or fourth wedding, and that girl def had some serious mental problems. SHe smashed a cake on her father too.

When casting the show, they advertise that you get a free honeymoon if you are on the show, but it doesnt look like you get much other compensation. Their are crazy people all over, and well, some of them get married. lol. Anyone who has worked in customer service can attest to teh fact that these people are out there, and they are not acting. lol. they are just nuts.

This is the episode that always sticks out in my mind!!! Not only was it her third or fourth wedding but it was her second marriage to the SAME guy. I think its pretty tacky to have multiple weddings to the same person!! Its one thing to get married again but it is completly another thing to have a huge wedding and ask for presents again! And then she threw a fit because her fiance wouldn't pay THOUSANDS of dollars to fly first class to whereever they were going on their honeymoon. I REALLY hope that this one was fake because she was really rude (and crazy).

I couldn't help it, the board had me switing to Bridzillas just to see a little bit. I can't help how naggy these brides are BUT I also notice how the narrator sounds just as snarky and sarcastic

I liked the narrator because she was talking like she was narrating a show like those Disney Wedding specials on the Travel Channel. As if what was happening on screen was totally normal and sane.

I didn't see any but the two eps with the Megan chick. I didn't make it to their wedding because the network started showing Dirty Dancing after the second ep. I assume they aired it today but I just couldn't bring myself to DVR it. It just seemed...wrong. :lmao:

I should be ashamed, but I love this show.... It a guilty little TV pleasure of mine. I find the women and men on it hilarious! 60 Minutes it is not, but everyone needs a little ‘Duh TV time!

It's funny that I found this thread - I was watching this show today and thought, some of this has to be manufactured drama! It is absolutely a riduculous show, but did kill a few hours today before the Tonys!
