Hello all!

I have picked out the most perfect bridesmaids dresses from Davids Bridal but my wedding is not for another year. I have 6 maids and I need to know when is the earliest I should have them purchase them? I wanted to wait for atleast 5 months before BUT the consultant said that they discontinue dresses all the time and there is no guarantee they will be in stock. Is this a ploy to get me to buy them or what??

Hmm i know David's is pretty quick so I would call and ask one of their consultants. I order my BM dresses at the 10 month mark because I was told they would take 4 months or so (bill levkoff not david's) plus I want to give the girls time to have them altered and what not. I say somwhere around the 8-10 month mark is good but with Davids you may be able to wait to the 6 or 7 month.

David's is really quick, like Pixie08 said. It only took about a month for my dresses to come in (MOH, FGs and MOB). I don't know about David's but some places let you "watch" a dress. You pay a small deposit and if it is going to be discontinued they let you know and you purchase it then. Or you can use the deposit for another dress. They did this at the store where I bought my wedding dress, but I'm not sure if David's does this.

I used to work for Davids. Until about a week ago actually. I quit because we are getting our Daughter soon from Haiti. Anyway I worked there for 2 years and it is true they discontinue all the time. Also unless you have at least 1 BM dress bought they will not flag that you like it to call you. It literally will be available one day and not the next. A typical time frame also really depends on the dress the color and the size. They come in once ordered anywhere from 2 weeks to 15 weeks. Yes, I said 15 weeks. They do not do special orders so if it is after when you need it or it is discontinued you really are out of luck.
My best advice as with anything wedding related is that if you fall in love with something ie. dress bm dresses venue...and you can afford it buy it right then. Otherwise don't be surprised if it is not available.
I hope this helps.
Heidi
