Need some ideas. We are throwing a bridal shower for SIL with probably 50 ppl. I am trying to come up with idea for table favors - something for guests that is budget-minded. For example - for my shower we made homemade soup dry mix in a bag / and basket with bow and printed recipe.

I was trying to come up with something unique but nice. Bride loves wine and would be described as simple chic.

What favors have you receivced that you loved?? Ideas please....

For our wedding, my husband and I had fun in the evenings after work putting together our table favors. We cute 8 inch squares of mesh material--or any see through material of your choice. Picked color coordinated ribbons of our wedding colors which were teal and peach...if that dates us!! LOL

We bought bags of Hershey's Hugs and Kisses. Put one each of a kiss and a hug or more if you like depending on how many you want...keep in mind you might need a bigger square of material to accomodate more kisses and hugs. We then printed tags on the computer in a nice font and cut them out with fancy pinking sheers that read, 'Hugs and Kisses from the Mr. and Mrs.' We put a hole punch on the tag, thread it through the ribbon and tied it around the material holding the chocolate!! It was a hit!!

Oh, and a fun toast for the groom to his bride would be:

"Here's to a night of sweet repose;
tummy to tummy and toes to toes.
A moment of bliss...ahhh, sweet delight.
Then fanny to fanny the rest of the night!"

It's a crowd killer!!!

have fun most of all!!princess:pirate:

Candy buffets are my go-to favors for showers. Fill apothecary jars of varying sizes with color- or theme-coordinated candy, add scoops and clear bags, and let guests make their own favors.

Let's see...

A handmade CD of favorite songs. CD labels can be printed and customized. I received this gift from a Wedding many years ago.

Recently, I went to a baby shower and for "prizes" guests received large symphony chocolate bars. They were "re-labed" with scrapbook paper. Very pretty. Inexpensive...And who doesn't love chocolate anyway.

I have made little customized chocolates for teachers before by using sticky labels. I use a stamp of choice to decorate labels. Labels (from office store or walmart) re-wrap the candy called "Hershey Treasures" perfectly.

For my bridal shower, guests were given a pair of candles ( the hand-dipped kind that are still attached by the single wick) and these were tied with a ribbon and a small dried flower attached. I still have 2 sets hanging in my living room as decoration (11 years later). They were done in my wedding colors of white and burgundy.

For wine lovers on a budget, I usually recommend making wine glass charms as favors - you can get the materials from most craft stores or order them in bulk from e-bay. If you choose to make your own, you can use beads that reflect the brides choice of colours and perhaps attach each charm to a card that reads a romantic quote or fun fact about wine or something about the couple or their wedding.:)

I'm always in favor of no favors. I've yet to get a favor at a shower or a wedding that didn't get tossed out pretty quickly. I hate clutter. I'd rather see the money put into food or drink or just conserved.

This. Do people really have room for the clutter? I guess that means that the candy is a good idea because it's edible and doesn't have to take up space in my house.

But since you asked, my shower was daisy themed so we gave daisy cookie cutters with a family cookie recipe attached to them.

I've also recieved flower seeds, bookmarks (which I do actually use), candles, bowls...

I hosted a Bridal Shower recently, I did a Bridal Tea, and the favors were tea bags--I just bought a variety of flavors and put a mix in each favor.

I just re-wrapped 200 after dinner mints in personalised wrappers in the wedding colours (with name and wedding date on them) then slipped 3 of each into little organza bags - again a mix of the wedding colous, ivory & burgundy. Whole lot cost me around £20 (about $30 I guess)

Great ideas everyone! Someone raised the "no more clutter" card. Since we dont plan on any games there will be no game prizes. So hence the favors for everyone...

I'm in favor of both--no favors and no games. So no games wouldn't mean anything about the need for favors to me.

I'm all about good food, good beverages, great conversation and a lot of laughter. Give me that and I don't need a trinket.

The best budget favor I ever received was a wooden spoon with a printed soup recipe attached with ribbon. Who can't use an extra wooden spoon?

How much time have you got? How about getting some seeds and some little seeding starter pots, planing the seeds and growing little flowers (marigolds or maybe some herbs like mint/parsley/basil). Then just wrap the pot in a little colored foil and place one at each place setting.

i got a customized cd years ago and loved it. it was at the wedding and they had their song, and a few classic loves songs that had meaning to the couple. i still listen to it. i hate the pic frames/candle trinket type favors, i always end up tossing them. candy is another good one, i even seen little bags of cookies as favors at showers. another thing that might be nice is a re-usable tote bag for food shopping and such. you can get them and personalize with fabric paint if you are ambitious. sometimes craft stores have plain things like this for cheap or you can check out oriental trading co. another DIY idea is since spring is around the corner giving a packet of flower seeds with a note like "let love bloom".

I have to say my mom threw me the best bridal shower ever. She themed it the months of the year. She gave each person she invited a month and asked them to think of a gift for that month. It was awesome, I got everything from Christmas Ornaments to a lemonade pitcher.
She said she also considered doing an hours of the day shower but she was afraid it might get too raunchy and she is quite conservative. I mean what would the 3am person bring:lovestruc
She did not do favors, however she said she considered doing calendars as gifts since we had a late fall wedding.

Something edible, otherwise it gets tossed! Last shower I went to had cute little sugar cookies that looked like purses. Maybe check a local bakery, the cellophane wrapped cookie with ribbon was cute and enjoyed later.

I like the wooden spoon idea too, or a spoonula. Everyone can use those. I hate trinkets, shot glasses, other clutter. Most of it gets left behind on the table.

I am throwing a shower in a couple of weeks for my future daughter in law and like alot of oyu didn't want something to give to the guests that would be either clutter or left behind. We have a family reciepe for sugar cookies that everyone loves. I bought a 4 pack of cookie cutters from Joann Fabric (4.00) and clear cellophane bags with ribbons attached at Michaels (1.59). I am making the sugar cookies and placing them in the cellophane bags along with 2 Tazo tea bags, 1 passion and 1 calming . The cookie cutters are shaped like a heart, wedding cake, ring, and dove. I am decorating them with yummy buttercream frosting and irredecent edible glitter (also from Joanns in the baking area). This way everyone gets a little something sweet and tea that they can enjoy! :flower3:
