I just got our floral budget from our Dis florist. We are planning on doing a MK/AK photo shoot and am shocked at the refresh fee for my bouquet.... $100

My question is, is how long did your bouquet last after your wedding? My bouquet consists of calla lilies. Is the refresh necessary? :confused3: Worth it?

I had gerber daisies and put them in the fridge after our wedding day (wedding, dinner, dessert party). They were perfectly fine the next day. The day after they were okay too, but I wouldn't go any further than that.

I think if your shoot is the next day it's silly to spend the money on a refresh, but that's just me. Keep in mind if your flowers get banged up a lot on wedding day, you'll have to live with it. I figured I'd just go without the bouquet if necessary.

Here they are the day after our wedding:

I used mine without a refresh a week later. I kept them cool and in water and they were fine to use. Up close you could tell of course but for long distance shots they worked just fine.

How soon after the wedding is your shoot?

One thing to keep in mind is that, depending on how wilted it is, a floral refresh can mean they basically re-create your entire bouquet for you with new flowers. Considering that the average bouquet price is $250, that's a steal. However, the refresh was $100 more than I wanted to pay, so I just used my bouquet as it was 2 days after the wedding. At the time, DPS was taking basically zero closeups in the MK bridal portrait sessions, so you really couldn't tell that my bouquet was wilting. But in person, the dahlias were definitely more shriveled than they'd been on the wedding day.

We don't have a date yet for our shoot. I understand that they could possibly redo the whole thing depending on how the flowers are but my original bouquet is $300 and a refresh of $100 puts my bouquet at $400 :scared1:

A little off topic...but I'm wondering how much Disney would charge for a silk version of a bouquet? Our Epcot shoot is 4 days after our wedding and we have to come back in 2013 for our MK bridal pics. It would certainly be cheaper than a $100 refresh and paying for a 2nd bouquet, right? And then I'd have keepsake.

I found it to be a waste. I did do the refresh, but then was at Disney another week and had my bouquet in water the whole week, it looked fresh as ever (I had orchids). It would have been just fine had a not bothered refreshing it.

perhaps a more experienced floral person may chime in, but i’m wondering about how sturdy calla lilies are? generally, i don’t think the refresh is needed if your bouquet is the same or next day. i had a gardenia in my bouquet and it was a wee bit brown on the edges, but my bouquet looks fine in all our next morning pics. not sure if callas are more prone to curling at the edges or not and may be too big or awkward to keep in a fridge or water. but i would lean towards not doing it unless you need it several days later. we got more than enough pics focusing on our flowers the day of the wedding. the MK shoot we did was more about us and the scenery!

I dont' know about Disney silk flowers, but we will be getting our flowers from a local supplier here in the UK and taking them with us - as it will just be mine and his, we're not having attendants. We're going to be paying less than $100 for the lot - even tho we get flowers as part of the Escape package, if they will not let me trade the flowers for aisle petals I will just get a nice bouquet of flowers and have them put in our hotel room for our honeymoon :)

I did not do a refresh for my bouquet (white and red roses) as our shoot was the next morning and my bouquet was fine. My DH did not fair as well though. His boutineer (a red rose) was dead. We had taken our some floral back from our wedding and I just took a red rose off this to use for his tux.

I just got confirmation from our planner that our MK/AK shoot is for the day morning after our wedding. My flowers should be fine....right? :confused3

i'm sure they will be fine - just put them in water and a cool environment ie your hotel room fridge and they should be fine don't worry :)

They'll be absolutely fine. Stick them in water and leave the aircon on .
