bricks outside DL

They only guarantee the brick will be there for 10 years. But hopefully its forever:goodvibes Either way its a really good deal imho.

If after 10 years it is going to be removed, it would be nice if they offer to ship the actual brick to the people who purchased them. I would love to have my kids actual bricks in my back yard! :thumbsup2

Could you do brick in memory of someone with just their name on one line and then 1/01-3/03 as the dates on another line? Or is that still too 'depressing'?

I just called them and this is what I found out. A brick costs $150. You can put on each brick a total of 3 lines and each line contains 16 spaces(including letters, numbers, spaces, and punctuation. Pretty much the only thing you can put on the brick are names, city, or state, or one date. The next installation by will be going in next February.

only $150 wow I thought they were way more expensive. I have heard rumors though that you can't put RIP or In Memory of because Disneyland doesn't want to be associated with death, dying, or depression

I think to avoid what Minuet888 referred to as the "death, dying, or depression" avoidance, you can put three lines on the bricks. The lines can be:

a) names
b) location (i.e., town/state)
c) ONE date

So, to do an "in memory" brick, you could put their name and the date they passed or their birthdate, but not both. And you wouldn't be able to write "in memory" or anything other than their name (and their burial location or hometown, I suppose). Only you would know that the brick was an "in memory" brick, to all others, it would just be a name and a date.

You can only have one date. So you could not do the example you used, but you could pick one of the dates. No one would know it's in memory of someone except you, so if it's what you want, do it. I have a friend who has 3 bricks. One has her grandparents names on it. She bought it with part of her inheritance to remember trips to DL with them. If you were to see it, you would not know it's "in memory."

I agree it would be nice to get the brick if they remove it. I think they will only remove the brick if they are going to redo the area. They won't remove it just because its 10 years old (thought I read that somewhere but I could be wrong). That's why Im glad they are still selling bricks I figure it will be a minimum of 10 years after they sell the last brick before they remove them all.

My family got one for me as a gift. It is located near the entrance to DCA. I wonder if it will be dug up and relocated when the make the new entrance to the park.

I read on another board that some people had bricks relocated when there was some paving work done before.

I have ordered my brick for my children & grandson's christmas present. I was so excited I made them guess what the present was....my daughter is a disboards member & saw this thread, so she guessed it after a while.
They are very excited to be a part of Disneyland, even if it is only for 10 years!!!:thumbsup2
Thanks so much for posting this info, I am very grateful!!!

I want one!!! For my daughter, I mean! ;) Does anybody know how much the commemorative brick for your home is???

Thanks for all the info!

Think it was $35 for the replica and you can get an acrylic or wood one. We got the Wood one and its pretty nice. You get a wood replica with engraved lettering and a small stand that the brick sits on.

I think the whole 10 year thing is referring to the contract with the buyer that if they remove it in less than 10 years, they have to give you a refund. At least that's what I remember when we bought one of the 50th anniversary bricks.

Yeah, we bought ours during the 50th as well. I also remember that being written in the contract somewhere. The part I wasn't sure about was the part about them not just arbitrarily removing the bricks after the 10 years. But Im pretty sure I read that on a forum so who knows how accurate that is lol. Like I said Im just glad they keep selling them.

BTW I think we got an AP discount on our brick. So anyone buying one you might want to check on that if you have an AP.

Ours is being placed this month! :yay: Not sure if it is in yet but we can't wait to come visit it in December!!! How exciting for all of you who are just ordering one!
Hope they stay in place for longer than 10 years. It would be neat for my kid's kids (if they have kids!) to be able to see it when they take them to The Happiest Place On Earth!

We purchased our brick back in 2002 and it was placed in time for our 2003 wedding.

This is what our commemorative brick looks like.
