Breckenridge

Any advice on Breckenridge? We were supposed to go skiing next week in PA but since there is no snow we are thinking of flying somewhere. We were going to go end of Jan for 7 days. Airfare is very cheap but I'm looking for some condos that are ski in and out. Thanks!

Breckenridge is beautiful....

only advice i can give...

take it EASY....and NO alcohol day one....

i had bad altitude sickness.....
the altitude is higher by a few thousand feet than say Steamboat...
made a big difference to me

Is it higher then Utah? We did Snowbird in Utah and we didn't get sick. We were short of breath til we got used to it though. We aren't big drinkers, especially when we have to get up early to hit the slopes. I'm so excited! Here we were going to drive 4 hours to ski for a week but now we might be flying out to Colorado instead!

The ski resorts got dumped on this past week, so conditions are ideal.

Breckenridge base conditions are 54" top/43" midmountain - powder/packed powder. It is currently snowing with 5" since 5:30 this morning.

I second the caution to take care until you get acclimated to the altitude.

We went to Breckinridge a few years ago, and I also was there once on an all girlfriends ski trip. The town is lovely, and the skiing is fantastic. The one thing that stands out in my mind is how different skiing out west is from skiing on the East coast -- what fun it is to ski on snow instead of ice!

I have not skied Breckenridge. I have skied Vail and SnowBird and Steamboat many times.(I'm from the east coast) I did have altitude issues once at Snowbird-nothing major-stay hydrated and away from alcohol,make sure you drink lots of extra water the week before you go. At Steamboat they had a kids ski free,stay free and eat free the last time we were there. For each adult in your party,1 child got a free ticket,if that adult rented equiptment a child could get free rentals. Most restaurants also had kids eat free deals.We are headed to Mont Tremblant next weekend but I only get to watch-I have a new stress fracture and am grounded for the next few months!!!!

We went ahead and booked it! We are staying at the Village of Breckenridge, Peak 5 in a 3 bedroom. We also got SW tickets and a rental 4WD. I'm so happy! Here I was thinking we were just going on our usual ski jaunt and now we get to ski in some real snow!!

We just skiied at Copper Mountain today (20 minutes from Breckenridge). Rest assured that there is plenty of snow. Forecast is for MORE snow on either Thursday or Friday of this week. You'll have a great time. Breckenridge is a very nice place to ski!!

Be sure and bring plenty of warm clothes and goggles (as opposed to sunglasses) because it's been pretty windy on the lifts and the goggles work far better to keep your face warm.

We skied at Breckenridge last March. The town is great. Lots of cute shops and good restaurants. Enjoy your trip.

not sure about utah....

but i know breckenridge is one of the higher elevated towns...

Snowbird's elevation is listed at 11,000 feet. Breckenridge's is listed as 12, 998 feet. So you're dealing with an almost 2,000 foot difference.

just stay hydrated...on water....not booze and coffee

i like to booze it up on vaca....

so it is steamboat for me....town is at like 6500 ft or so....

anyway enjoy the breathtaking beauty...
something about mountains....that makes me feel at peace

Breckenridge is my favorite! I've skied there 3 times. I'm sure you will have a wonderful time.
