Breaking news-Travelers flying from New York to Florida will be placed under 14-day quarantine,

With Disney opening soon, Republican Gov DeSantis won’t want to lose tax revenues (You’re welcome for paying taxes for you every time I come down) He’ll lift the quarantine. It may have made sense in the beginning. CT’s early cases stemmed from people who worked in NYC but lived in CT. But now anyone from any state is as likely to be carrying the virus
New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, expires July 7.

It doesn't matter where someone contracted the disease. It matters where you travel from. See posts above.
and according to today’s news, Florida, Texas, Arizona are all seeing an increase in their cases.
Yes. Don't know about Texas and AZ, but Florida had doubled our testing this week.

We're testing at a positive rate of about 5%, which is 1/2 of our goal.

Exactly my point, you could contract covid ANYWHERE in the country but only NY/NJ/CT are still being singled out. Boston has a higher infection rate than Northern CT but you can fly out of Logan with no issues.

I’m not arguing, but does it say so somewhere?
Honestly, it is a little confusing because they refer to a number of executive orders and those have been extended. But it's currently July 7.

You need to read the thread. I explained it in Post #160 on Page 8, with detailed stats.

Here's the bottom line if it's too much trouble to read:
"For comparison, Florida's cases per million are 3,079 vs CT's 12,391 and our deaths are 128 vs your 1,149 per million.
You have 4x the cases per million and 9x the deaths. You are 3rd in the US in DEATHS per million. "

Where I am from, in the Hudson Valley region in NY, were are testing far more than Florida, and we are at 1% positive. So why must I quarantine? Silly, silly restriction.

Travel restrictions are not done by zip code. And nobody expects every person on the planet to be pleased.

When Floridians visit the beautiful Hudson Valley of New York, we expect to abide by local laws and regulations. Please do the same when you come to visit us.

This is not rocket surgery.

I read that. CT is 6th on that list, not 3rd, for cases per million.

ETA: I don’t mean this to be rude; I just noticed that CT was 6th and not 3rd. I also saw that I misread and it’s 6th for cases so post has been edited.

You are hung up on a ridiculous statistic. By your logic, the good ol' US of A should be on every other country's banned travel list, because we have the most cases. This was explained to you earlier; we will NEVER be low on the list because of the initial outbreak. The renewal of the order on June 5th is fairly baseless. NY tested MORE than anyone, and continues that trend. As for deaths, have you looked at your state's deaths from pneumonia lately? Look at the year over year deaths attributed to pneumonia and influenza and tell me that these statistics are accurate. We have to assess based on current numbers, not March and April.

The listing I posted was sorted by cases per million, not deaths per million. I didn't make that clear, but if you look at the raw numbers in the table, you'll see that CT is 3rd, between NJ and MA.

I'm hung up on the statistics that matter. You are making excuses.

If you have 4x the number of cases as Florida per million of population, I don't care how or where those people got sick

They are sick, and they are a risk factor that we choose not to admit to Florida without the same reasonable quarantine protocol the entire rest of the world uses.

If that is inconvenient for you, we are sorry.

Either way, the travel ban is NY, NJ, and CT until July 7.

I abide laws. Think about it. Would those of us Yankees be spending so much time trying to figure out/gain clarity on when this might expire if we were interested in breaking laws? We would just do the easy thing and drive down a different route/fly from a different airport. We want to do this the right way. What I have a problem with is that, as a DVC owner, if your governor decides that I cannot access my property (ownership...I pay taxes in FL), the I should be fairly compensated. To be frank, I would cancel today if I could be made whole because I do not trust that Florida, with it's current trends, is going to be okey dokey when I travel down in a month.

Cases per million when you don't test people at the same rate is a USELESS statistic, dude.

I caught that and edited my post. So is it about raw number of cases or cases per million?

If it’s cases per million, as was highlighted in the graphic, then CT was 6th. I’m not sure who highlighted that or why but I found it interesting.

As @glocker noted, there is absolutely an issue with DVC and the quarantine EO plus the notice Disney put up a few days ago about people under quarantine orders not being permitted to enter WDW Resort. If that’s the case, then DVC absolutely owes its owners from these states the courtesy of telling them that they must cancel and allowing them to bank their current UY points. For myself, I’m not past my banking deadline so DVC needs to let me know whether or not I’m allowed to access the timeshare I’ve paid for. If not, then they need to tell me so that I can bank and plan for next year.

Also, what happens when cash guests from those states try to check in? Will they be turned away? I would think that Disney would try to avoid the negative optics and would reach out proactively to guests with reservations from those areas, especially those who may be going before the EO expires.
