Breaking news: suspect admits to killing JonBenet

Plus she disappeared somewhere between bedtime and 5:30 am and it was the day after Christmas so there was no school. :confused3

I have never followed this very closely - where were the Ramseys returning from that night - a party? - would that have been at the school????? Was that time frames et by the parents info or others seeing her...this guy just seems more and more like a crackpot.....

sorry to not know, but I really didn't follow it that closely at the time....

It'll be interesting what his story is once out of the hands of the Thai authorities. I wouldn't trust any 'confession' obtained from anyone while in their hands. :scratchin

He said he kidnapped her, but she was found in the house. He kidnapped her, did his thing with her, killed her and then brought her back! Some part of his story does not add up to me.

I read an article that said he tried to kidnap her, but it went wrong so he killed her, so possibly he never made it out of the house.

What a confusing case :confused3 It seems totally strange to me that he would have a public press conference and confess to killing her....possibly he is a nut job so obsessed with the case that he wanted to be involved in it somehow (Which would tie up with the timing - right after Patsy died) but he would have to be REALLY crazy to risk life in jail/the death penalty (?) just for attention.

The Smoking Gun found John Karr's resume on the Internet. In addition to being a teacher (mostly overseas) he was also a nanny to a number of children in Europe. Can you imagine being one of their parents and hearing the news?

He also indicates that he worked for a number of prestigious private schools in the U.S. but does not name them. His degree is from a correspondence school.

Now he claims he drugged her but there weren't any drugs found in her body. :confused3

It was a Christmas day party at the house of a family friend. IIRC they got home at about 10:00 pm.

I have a feeling that this "confession" is going to bring more questions than answers...

Exactly and the ex-wife who can't stand him and has no reason to protect him states that he was with her that Christmas.

Here's what I don't get. He said her death was unintentional. But her body was found beaten and strangled. Those are intentional acts. No one does something like that and says "oops, that was an accident." Beating someone and strangling someone isn't done by accident.

He says he wrote to her mom before she died expressing remorse and how much he loved JonBenet. For supposedly never having known the man, wouldn't the Ramseys have found it odd for someone to be expressing remorse over their murdered daughter and to be reading claims from the same person that he loved her?

He also, interestingly enough, isn't giving details on what happened. He claims it would take hours to get into it.

So let's just summarize this...
1. Man confesses to murder
2. Says he picked her up at the school, but the timeframe indicates school would have been out for Christmas break
3. Though he "kidnapped" her, JonBenet was found in her own home
4. Ramseys "do not know" the person, but he seems to know their house pretty well for him to be able to get to their "hidden" room and not disturb them
5. JonBenet was found beaten and strangled, but man claims she only died by accident, not by intention
6. Man claims he drugged her, but an autopsy showed that there were no drugs or alcohol found in her body
7. Man is keeping mum on specific details about how she died, saying it would take too long to get into

This is getting more and more interesting...

Has anyone seen video of the suspect saying that he drugged her or that he picked her up from school Christmas Day?

The Boulder DA said that the suspect knows things about the crime that were not released to the press and could not be guessed. That statement and the statement the suspect made to the TV cameras appear to be the only verifiied pieces of information out there right now.

His confession only brings more questions :confused3 . I'll believe it when they prove his quilt beyond the shadow of a doubt. I wonder if he could be just another pervert wacko wanting attention and dreamed up a way to get back in the US. God rest this poor child and her mother. :sad1:

The suspect confessed to killing the child, and yet people are still pointing fingers at her family.

No child porn was ever found on Mr. Ramsey's computer. "Fine" newspapers like the Globe and World News reported garbage like that, but it was never proven by any reliable source.

Handwriting experts were unable to "rule out" Patsy as being the person who wrote the ransom, but they never said she wrote it.

We will have to wait until this man's trial to find out all the evidence. I've thought for many years that the general public doesn't know all of it. Maybe then, people will be convinced that Jon Benet's family didn't kill her?

I doubt it. It seems that there are a lot of people who won't change their minds after they've formed an opinion. :(
So someone confessed to killing her? Big deal. My father was a police officer and they had a guy who used to confess to every crime committed in the city. He even confessed to crimes that were committed when he was already in jail for something else.

I agree with those who will reserve judgement. There are several things about this that do't add up, not the least of which is how coincidental it was that this confession comes 2 months after the mother dies. Odd that no one in the family heard a sound. Odd that he claims to have kidnapped her, but she was found in the house. Many odd things, not the least of which is the way the Boulder PD screwed up the investigation from the beginning by letting a million people all over the crime scene.

Here is another thing that discredits the confession and its a little graphic:

It was announced by him that he raped Jonbenet. That is NOT true. There is evidence of insertion of small objects including pieces of wood from a paint brush handle but nothing the size of what we are talking about and the man that examined JonBenet just said that it was IMPOSSIBLE that she was raped.

I think this is just a wacko. His ex wife said he studied the Benet Case and made a lot of contacts to documentary writers and even contacted Patsy, but to me that just sounds like one of those mentally imbalanced, obsessive people.

Another thing is that he NEVER met either Patsy or John and of course had never been in their home. Police officers said that the home was very difficult to navigate because of its size and layout. Its seems odd that he would know his way right to the basement.

For this thing to stick I would say they'd need his DNA and for his handwriting to match up with that Ransom note.
