Yawn. The UN Security Council is a joke at this point. Why should Iran comply? They have nothing to fear from the SC.

Or the US, when you think about it. We're kinda tied up next door...although we do have a couple extra nukes lying around that I'm sure Donald Rumsfeld is fingering right about now....

They are far more worried about us being right next door (how convenient!) than they are of the impotent and corrupt U.N. Security Council.

I agree; the US couldn't militarily move against Iran esp. with our rep with the Iranians. We can only hope that more moderate people gain power in Iran and back off from any thought of a nuclear device.
(But I don't agree with the crack about Rumsfeld.)

I tell you one thing, I'd hate to be the one to have to tell the American soldiers and their families that although we appreciate the 3-4 tours of duty in Iraq that they just finished serving, we've got another guerilla type battle in Iran that we'd like you guys and gals to get involved in...what's a few more tours of very hazardous duty between friends...and hell, you can walk over from where you are now!!

I got a chuckle out of this response, from the Iranians:

Iran's U.N. ambassador, Javad Zarif, told reporters, "We are allergic to pressure and intimidation."

It sounds like a Monty Python skit! :rotfl2:

Well, I think if you gave those families, mine being one of them, all the background on the Iranian president and his desire to gain nukes they would suck it up and drive on like they always do.

Yeah, it is awful to send your loved one to a war zone. You watch the news and try not to let it make you crazy hearing about more soldiers being wounded and killed. You try not to hate those who call the troops terrible names. You spend sleepless nights filled with worry. You spend your days trying to keep the children busy so they won't ask for the millionth time, " When is Daddy coming home?" You make plans in secret just in case he doesn't.

I don't take the concept of a war with Iran lightly. I have been through quite a few different deployments of various kinds and I don't relish the thought of another. HOWEVER, if my husband were told to go in order to protect us from that crazy Iranian getting his hands on nuclear weapons, I would send him off knowing it was the right thing that needed to be done. I pray it doesn't come to that, but I don't see the UN having any credibility at this point.

From what I have read, the Iranian president adhears to some religious teaching about a final battle and some final prophet. He wants to hurry it all along. I will have to go and look it back up and find a link, but he is not rational to say the least. I only hope the Iranian people can find a way to get rid of him - and soon.

Does Iran even have the ability to fire a nuclear weapon at us? Let Israel deal with it. They're really the ones who should be worried!
