The food is always the best part. Just so much. We are going to someone elses home for christmas, as we have been for about 4 years now. They have a crown roast. I feel like a balloon. As for my wine, well I now need to bring a bottle of my champagne. I will make brownies to take with me.

I need to go out tomorrow. I tried to start cooking but got side tracked.

:teeth: Yes....I thought of you when I saw the musical trumpet.

We still have to dash to school for DS to present us with the best of his work this year....and then mum's for dinner.

On my way out...almost now. I'll be back later to catch up on the other threads.
Wont be long now before you get to slow down. You always have a great dinner.
Slow dis.

Fran made it through, her hands are really sore and she is worn out. For Sunday church gigs our Assistant Conductor takes the helm. See response to skiingfa

:scared1: I ended up telling some band members privately, there are more us than her. If she insists on playing everything like a dirge that will never end, take over when you have the melody, I will follow you if you speed up. We can not let these tunes die and untimely death and she slows us down to the point where the music is not even moving forward!
Is she not able to keep up? Or is she going longer than she needs to?
Just food, what a nice life.

Mine is getting some toys and some sweets. Also underwear, pants, shirt, and pencil topper erasers.

You know there are only two things I remember getting for xmas, one was earrings, and the best thing of all was a pair of roller skates. Thats all I have for my chris this year. I still need to get a few more things. And stoking stuffers for doggies.

Hope your DS is doing great in school. It wont be much longer till you will be able to slow down. You will have a great dinner like you always do.:thumbsup2

Is the problem she can't physically keep up?

No some people just have a good sense of time, others do not. It escapes me how this woman has taught in the public school system for so long and still lacks the skills to direct. Before she came along, I was the assistant conductor. I don't have experience, but I think I have a better sense of time. One time she will start us at the right speed, the next time we are half as fast. Imagine a sing along where you are singing "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" and each sylllable takes one second to perform. Try it with a clock. (We have one that ticks loudly in the living room so I just tried it and I might be exaggerating a wee bit, but not much). It was awful.

I just tried it again, two syllables should fit into a second.

She is just inconsistent. She doesn't have the time she wants in her head, she starts abruptly, doesn't even look to see if the musicians are ready. I mean we have to be holding our instruments with them in our mouths to be able to play. Most of the time when she starts, I don't even have my hands in the right postion so I miss the first couple measures.

I didn't conduct much, not my forte, but I CAN do it in a pinch if no one else can and for a while it was that way. I probably err on the side of waiting too long to make sure everyone is ready, getting nods from all the players that they are ready to go before starting.

I can remember quite a few. Some because they were odd, some because I still have them around and DS is using them.

My bad, I thought it was Fran she was speaking of. Hmmm.. took a test got a 100%. I read this and cant get it right.:sad2:

Usnuz - Not sure if you're still up or checking this thread. Just thought I'd say goodnight. I still have a ton of stuff to do tonight and should get them done rather than just Dis-sing.

Hope to catch you tomorrow.

Hello everyone! Just woke up here at the Poly and thought I'd check in while the guys take their time getting ready.

Flight down was fine. Weather was a bit rainy and cloudy on Monday but turned gorgeous yesterday and looks that way today too! We have met nothing but super CMs and had wonderful food so far! DH's scooter had to be exchanged last night because it kept dying on inclines but the company was wonderful about it and he is having so much better a trip because he is using one!

We went to Epcot Monday, MK yesterday and we're back to Epcot a bit this morning then resting for MVMCP tonight.

Hope you all are keeping the games going for me!

Catch 'ya later!
Kathy

Glad to hear you and hubby arehaving a great time. Eat around the world for us and will keep lasting. I love it there at christmas time.

Glad your trip is going well Kathy! Mobility can make all the difference in the world at such a large place like that!

Yay for having a good trip!

Been snowing overnight but not much where it's needed...
Is a White out on the mountains so we are going shopping in and around Denver.
Still flurries around but driving should be ok

Sorry you're having trouble at band. But it's no surprise about a school teacher being crap at conducting. Doesn't take much to get to be one.

Only when I went to a quality private girls school did I get quality in school teaching.
Relied on my piano and violin teachers for quality teaching in all aspects

Hope Fran improves soon.

Hope everyone is doing well otherwise :goodvibes:

yeah, she's been a music teacher for years. You can see the confidence in her when she lifts up her arms to conduct, but she has no concept on how fast anything should go. Mind boggling!

Boggling indeed.

Yeah, well I woke in my own bed at home.

Have fun at the party. :)

Good morning everyone!

Morning Usnuz.
