MIL's in the morning, sister's in the aftrenoon, FIL's in the evening. It was a busy day. Someone got me sick again. With just 3 days before we are to leave for WDW, I am hoping it is nothing serious. Glad yours was nice as well.

We have so much family in town that holidays are hectic. DH hates that we have so much family around. He always says he would like at least one holiday where it is just us and the kids. That probably will not happen unless we move out of state. My Dad, his Dad and his Mom would probably stop by if we missed a holiday event.

I hope you're right. It is never fun to be sick, especially on vacation stuck in a hotel room.

Well you could always celebrate with family members a few days earlier and that way christmas or whatever holiday will just be your family.

I tried to do this for Halloween this year, but at the last minute DH said we should go to my sister's house for trick or treating. He wants a Thanksgiving or Christmas off, but I cannot cook. It would be a disaster.

I agree you can get a roasted chicken and mashed potatos with gravy at the deli. Well worth a modified meal if you need a quiet holiday.

Holidays with friends and not family is great too. I've done this a lot with friends who live far from thier family, even if it meant leaving quickly to go eat again with my family.

I agree with Alison. As someone with no extended family, those with family should cherish that. I understand wanting one year 'off' and the misaligning would be a good option. But as 'frustrating' as it might be...I wish ever so much that I had more than my parents and brother
