The 10 Tenors sounded great. I couldn't help comparing them to Meatloaf at the AFL Grand Final .

Nearly a dead heat for the race.

Won by Dunaden, and a very very short whisker behind was Red Cadeaux. Would you believe I have $5 wins and $5 place on Dunaden and I actually did place $1 place money on Red Cadeaux?

If the odds are to be believed, it's 8 - 1 for Dunaden! Whoopie! More money for my Disney bucket!

So is this a business you walk into to place a bet? I've seen such on TV but never in real life. Of course I've been to Vegas and that's a sort of exception.

Yes. Lots of these outlets around. Horse racing, dog racing, trot racing etc. And at selected outlets, you can bet on anything you like! What they call 'exotic' bets.

During football season, they even allow you to bet on who will win.

It is effectively the same thing as a betting pool. But called a sweep. With fixed returns for each place.

The betting pool for the race is huge. It's usually in the order of a couple of hundreds of million dollars....and that's only based on the official betting outlet in Victoria. Then there's the various office sweeps and pools that are run.

I think I heard that just on Dunaden alone...the betting pool in Victoria for that horse was about $36 million. There are about 22 or 23 horses that run the race. Not sure what the betting pool was in NSW....the betting outlet there is a separate entity to the one in Victoria.

The betting pool in the state of Queensland would probably be next. Not sure about the other states and territories.
