Do you have any examples of your shadow boxes?

No I've only crafted a hand ful of furniture items and some picture frames. I'd like to make more. I don't have room for it though. My brother makes a lot of stuff he's much craftier. He sells artistic wooden bowls for lots of money.

I think we just had an earthquake.

Well you are in Cali.

4.8? That's practically just a minor tremor for Cali, isn't it?

Is there much damage or just a lot of shaking?

I like artist made stuff.

Did the two of you learn woodworking when you were kids?

It was moderate. Like I said it is a very rare occurence for one to hit
Sacramento. I am used to them. so many peope freak out if they havent felt one before.

Odd day for sure. I love dopey stuff. I like the weird stuff. I dont have much. maybe 4 items. I love my dopey jacket.

It's heading towards the end of the day here.

I'm in the office tomorrow...don't think I'll be on much. Hoping to head home early; so I might catch up with you all during the afternoon.

Bigger than I thought 4.8 near Portola. Not that far from here.

Is portola near the bay area? I remember hearing about the Portola Valley when I lived up there but don't remember exactly where it is.

It is rare to have one here. It may of been a 3. I am so used to them living in So cal anyway. I remember the one in 89, and I think 94.

Were you here for the Northridge quake? I lived on the fricken epicenter of that one!

I know what you mean, the last one we felt was that 7 in Mexico, but it was just a slight roll. OK we need to to go to bed since we actually have to get to an appointment tomorrow morning.

Oh and she is a Mickey fanatic so you won't find much dopey stuff in our hoarding collectibles. It's kind of hard to know what she likes, it doesn't vary but I'm always surprised with what comes in the door in boxes.

Maybe I shouldn't of used the word artistic, but decorative instead. Not stuff you eat out of. More stuff you put on a shelf. He makes them out of cedar wood so they are semi striped.

My dad made a lot of furniture. So kind of learned from him, but my brother is in to western type crafts. He made knives from antlers, gun racks. But has sold a lot of these bowls. He can't make them fast enough.

Oh heck yeah I lived there with all those earth quakes. I remember in the 70's in Fullerton we had a tornado.:scared1: that was wild.

I think I knew what you meant. I have a few decorative pottery and wooden plates around me. Hard to collect them when travelling and with limited luggage space/weight allowance. So, I look for things of a smaller nature. :goodvibes

Sleep well, Alison.

Okay. I'm going to catch up on some chores around here.

Sleep well everyone and I hope to be on tomorrow afternoon sometime.

Wow. Nice stuff. I come from a family of hoarders. My mum was an enabler too in late high school and early uni. So I have....stuff....Toys...
Not Disney really. Collected other stuff. Don't collect from either anymore really except the odd one or two. It's very addicting but one thing was they were simply changing their types of designs and products so it ended gradually naturally. I'm really happy with what I have. But some I never would have gotten if mum hadn't been paying.

I'll make splurge purchases....
But I do keep it pretty under control now.

I sympathise Alison. But it's hard sometimes.

Decorative items....wish I could see the stuff! I love stopping at yard sales and picking through the items; just looking anyway since we cleaned out our house recently!

I posted this in the BUMP thread just to explain my short posts lately:

Monday was a bad day with my Mom; she thought she had a heart attack. She's 82 and quite the hypochondriac but does have high blood pressure. Anyway, she been through 2 totally unnecessary surgeries and the hospital she uses is horrible and known for missing diagnoses. She seems much better now and her blood pressure is lower and she is home in her retirement nursing center (about 70 minutes from me).

Work was the pits with the shipment of new laptops to our field staff and the typical problems of low-tech users not reading directions and calling for help (I help supervise a national Help Desk for a federal testing program).

I love getting on and doing the Games and reading this thread! Even if I don't quite know what everyone is talking about it distracts me and is fun to read.

I also love reading about the different parts of the country and the world!

usnuzuloose - We get calls from and I talk with people in our California schools all the time and help them with questions about our assessment program. We always have to remember not to call them back before 11:00 AM our time!

Sleep well all!

Okay this may not be nice for me to say, but maybe some folke deserve that call before 11!:rolleyes1:rotfl2: I hope your mom is better. And have a terrific day at work. Hope there is no more rocking and rolling today!:lmao:
