I hear a lot about the dinners on Disney cruises: menus, seating arrangements, dress codes.....but what about for breakfasts and lunches? Do you get seated in the dining rooms for those as well, and do they take your orders from a menu? Or is it more casual, buffet style?:scratchin

The buffet serves breakfast & lunch every day. As do 2 of the MDRs (one a buffet similar to Cabanas/BBB) and one a sit down service. Both of those have more limited hours than the buffet.

Dress is more casual, but still no swim suits in the MDRs for breakfast & lunch, either.

You can choose which restaurant to go to each day for breakfast and lunch, and when -- you don't get assignments as you do for dinner. A list of restaurants for each meal and the times they are open will appear in each day's Personal Navigator. Usually, the "fanciest" restaurant is open for a sit-down breakfast and lunch. Menus will be posted outside so you know before you go in whether there is something you'd like. The buffet on the pool deck is always open for breakfast and lunch, with a few options that are different each day and some that are generally available every day. Often, especially on sea days, another restaurant is also open for a buffet breakfast and lunch.

The "fast food" restaurants on the pool deck are open much of the day as well.

Dress is not as formal as at dinner. Disney Cruise does ask that swim suits not be worn (without a cover-up) even at the buffet, but shorts are fine.

You're in luck - yes to all of the above. For a quiet, relaxing breakfast, go to the MDR with table service. You'll be seated alone (your family only), you may or may not see your normal servers, and the rooms are empty enough to be peaceful and relaxed. Or, you can seek out a buffet for a wider selection. Dress everywhere is informal (how does "resort casual" sound?) at all venues for breakfast and dinner. I guess no swimsuits in the MDRs, but other than that come as you are :)

You may not get a table for your family only at the table service MDR. We shared the table with other families once for breakfast, once for lunch. They had enough empty tables, but it looked like they did not have enough servers to cover all the tables. They did ask if it was okay to share the table before sesting us.

Both actually. They have sit down restaurants open at breakfast time (check the Navigator for which restaurants and the times each day) and a buffet in one restaurant. So, if you are in a hurry for a port adventure, you can grab breakfast quickly at the buffet. If you have the time and prefer to be waited on, you can eat at the MDR where breakfast is being served. The same applies to lunch. Just check the Navigator for information. :coffee:

I think the key is "they did ask...." Completely up to you. Compare this with the Carnival cruises we have been on, where they stack up people at long tables as they come in the door, for a very unfriendly experience. People are coming and going from your table as you eat, people arriving at different times that seems to result in constant activity at the table, no time to relax and enjoy the meal. We really didn't like that.

Compare with Disney where you have a private table, eat at leisure, in an elegant restaurant with a really nice menu. We have been asked only once if we wanted to sit with others.

We enjoy eating breakfast in the dining room when we cruise. On our upcoming cruise we may really enjoy the peace and quiet (there's 10 of us). Can we get a table for 2 in the MDR for breakfast ?

We have, several times on every cruise, every ship. That's or experience. Kid(s) beat us up and had started their day, we savored the quiet start to the day for the two of us.

Your kids start the day by beating up their parents? Not my idea of a good time!

Yes, it's nice they ask. The only time we've shared a breakfast table in a non-DCL dining room it was very awkward. I barely had my eyes open and was in no mood for small talk. So much easier to just go to Cabanas.

Seriously...almost spit out my coffee! :)

To OP, you got great answers here! We love MDRs for breakfast. So relaxing and quiet. We are a family of 3 and have always had breakfast by ourselves although apparently you may get asked to share a table. :) In January, my son and I cruised alone (met up with friends) and definitely had our own table one morning at Royal Court.

Have fun!

We ate breakfast at Cabanas each day, but on 2 days, we did room service for lunch. The food was still hot, and it was good. We used that time to cool off, shower/change, relax or whatever. It was nice to just sit in the room to eat.

You can go to the dining rooms for table service or you can go to the buffet and have a casual serve yourself atmosphere.
