Traveling on Dream in Sept with a child who has multiple allergies (dairy/egg/soy).

I noticed on old Personal Navigators that MDR's generally open for breakfast around 8-8:30... some days not until the ship's already in port, or around the same time. We have kiddos who wake before dawn and need to be back in the room for midday naps, so we'd like to eat early and be the first ones off the boat. Grabbing a quick breakfast at Cabanas is out due to DD's allergies. (I know they CAN make her food, but it would be far from quick, right?)

I know MDR's are generally recommended if you have allergies, but we don't want to eat up the whole morning. Especially on our Nassau day when the boat docks at 7:15. I know that's earlier than on most itineraries (we're on 4-night Itinerary I). There aren't any Navigators available for that itinerary. Would MDR's open earlier on that day?

What about room service? Can they do an allergy-friendly meal if given enough notice, or do we HAVE to go to the dining room? Or does one of us just need to head up to Cabanas super early to get the ball rolling on her food?

Thanks!

We were told not to use room service as it doesn't come out of the allergy kitchen. What worked best for us was to pick up some fruit and packaged cereal the day before and keep it in our room so we could get an early start the next morning. We were also given the extra dairy/egg/nut/gluten free bread at our table every night and used that some mornings as well.

You can place your order the night before and pick it up at Cabanas which will be faster and earlier than the MDR, but the orders weren't ready right when it opened. I want to say it took another half hour after opening for the pre-orders to be ready to pick up (but you could still show up and order food, and still be done earlier than the MDR).

Just to say, room service breakfast unless in conceirge is more a continental breakfast. Therefore a lot of the options are ready made and so not much room for change. However if there are any cereals they can eat then could be an option as they come in boxes? I have asked for soya milk from room service previously and been able to get it.

Also Cabanas will be open pretty early and might be able to help with hot breakfast items. Although I don't think they can make anything specifically they can advise what would and wouldn't work for you and then you can either eat it there or take it back to the room.

I think your best bet will be to arrange with your head server the night before what you would like at Cabanas and your estimated time of being there. On ours, our head server made arrangements for us and told us who we should find once we arrived in Cabanas. This worked so well that often my friend with all the allergies was seated and beginning breakfast before we even got through putting our plates together.

Room service is the worst bet. As others said it is typical continental breakfast fare and with the allergies you listed might be difficult to find anything that you were confident of. (Room service doesn't handle special requests well in my experience. It's always a gamble if they will remember to leave off the mayo when I order a BLT!)

The main dining room may open a little earlier on port day but not usually that much earlier. The early spot for breakfast is typically Cabanas.
