Breakfast suggestions for Middle Schooler

My 8yo dislikes most traditional breakfast foods and has been eating spaghetti most mornings lately. I make extra when I make it for dinner, then just microwave to reheat in the morning. (add a little water before reheating to keep the noodles soft.)

My school district did not provide bus transportation and in high school I had to walk 2 miles to school (uphill, both ways in the snow :rotfl2: ) I liked to take sandwiches to eat on the way. My favorite was hamburgers. Easily made the night before and reheated in the micro. (Although we didnt have micros back then! ) DD loved quesadillas when she was younger and spaghetti.

My DS10 really likes breakfast burritos. I make them kind of like the ones you get at McDonalds. Let me know if you're interested and I'll post the recipe.

I'm in high school and I don't really like eating traditional breakfasts.. cold pizza, fruit smoothies, cake, pudding or jellow with cool whip, fruit, yogurt, or microwave pankcakes or french toast is what I usually eat.. when I'm in a rush it's dry cereal and a travel mug of juice

I'd love the recipe. He is going to have to eat in the morning and he will still be starved by lunch.

DS15 eats a lot of Hot Pockets for breakfast and snacks. And not just the breakfast varieties.

Could your DS keep some energy bars in his backpack or pocket and eat one as he's traveling between classes?

I think a home-made smoothie sounds like a better idea, however one of my boys made it through junior high with Carnation Instant Breakfast. There are lots of flavors to choose from and it is sooo easy to prepare. Good Luck! :)

Here's my recipe for one burrito. It's very easy to increase the recipe.

1 flour tortilla (large size)
1 slice of American cheese (or any kind of shredded cheese you like)
1 egg
about 2 tsp. milk
about 1/8 tsp. dried onion flakes
salt & pepper to taste
1 breakfast sausage link
taco sauce

Break the cheese in half and lay it end to end on the middle of the tortilla. Microwave the sausage and cut it into small pieces. Beat egg with a little milk, onion flakes, salt and pepper. Scramble the egg in a small skillet. When the egg is cooked, spoon it onto the cheese, add sausage pieces and taco sauce. Then fold it up like a burrito, with the top open. You can heat everything in the microwave for a few seconds (to soften the tortilla) before you fold it up so it doesn't crack.

I have never been able to eat cereal with milk on it, even now at 51. I just eat it dry in the bowl. People think that's weird.

When I was in jr high and high school, the only thing I wanted was Carnation Instant Breakfast. Just about the only thing my daughter would eat were the frozen burritos.
