who: 1 - won't have lunch for 6 hours
2 - is allergic to peanuts & tree nuts &
3 - doesn't care for "traditional" breakfast foods.

I am at a loss & school starts in two weeks.

DH makes DD12 a smoothie in the morning which contains various combinations of yogurt, fruit, and protein powder. She likes it and its easy to eat in the car on the way to school too!

Good luck!

How about some fruit smoothies? Throw his favorite fruit into a blender... add milk or yogurt and blend.

Cereal bars? My oldest isn't much of a breakfast eater. She eats cereal bars or drinks carnation instant breakfast drinks. I told her since I am responsible for her body until she is at least 18, she HAD to injest something healthy.

grilled cheese?
Leftovers from dinner?
When I was that age one of my favorite breakfasts was campbells soup and crackers

My dd eats lunch and dinner foods for breakfast sometimes. Usually leftovers.
Lots of plain pasta or chicken, easy on the stomach. Lately she has been eating oatmeal.

I used to eat vegetables for breakfast when I was a kid. My grandmother came to stay with us for a week one time and nearly had a stroke.

How come there is such a big gap between breakfast and lunch? Can he snack any time in between?

:teeth: My ds in high school is the same way. He usually has a tortilla filled with refried beans and cheese. Usually a glass of milk or 2 to go with it. Before that it was cheese quesadillas(sp?). Fruit smoothies are great too but he doesn't want to make them so he only has it if his sister makes one too.

My 18yoDD has never liked breakfast food for breakfast. She usually eats spaghetti, pizza rolls, or whatever's left over from last night.

I buy frozen Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches for my 2 middle schoolers. They come in different varieties, biscuit, croissant or english muffin and they have egg and sausage, ham or bacon. That and a glass of milk tides them over til lunch.

When my brothers and I were in Jr and Sr high we used to eat all kinds of non-breakfast food like pasta, pizza, turkey sandwich, soup, baked potato. As long as healthy and filling that's all that matters.

cold pizza - get him ready for college ;)

Mine must be ready for college, because this is the favorite at our house!!

If no pizza is available, they'll grab chicken, hamburger helper, hamburgers, etc.... whatever happens to be in the fridge. Then they go to open gym for an hour, then eat breakfast at school before their first class.

i second bean burritos-i got turned on to these for breakfast when i was pregnant. i don't like traditional breakfast foods and allot of stuff turned my stomach. doctor said it was a great breakfast item-protean and calcium.

my son loves mac n cheese for breakfast-and now that they have the cup of noodles style that you can microwave in a couple of minutes i keep them on hand. the last couple of days he's been on a chili & bean kick-i just make a big batch which he puts cheese on and heats.

I used to eat a grilled cheese or a ham and cheese sandwich for breakfast when I was in school, or leftover pizza, soup, whatever...and still do to this day!! I rarely eat breakfast food in the AM.

Thanks for the great ideas. He loves fruit smoothies, never thought about them for breakfast. He does eat cheese & crackers a lot, but he can't eat it every day.

That's the 6th grade schedule for this year. Bus will come by 7:15, so he will eat by 6:45 to allow time to get to the bus stop. Lunch is not until last shift - 12:55. To make matters worse, he has his toughest subject, LA, right before lunch. I can guarantee you he will be more concerned with his empty belly than with anything the LA teacher has to say.
No time for a snack during the morning.
