other then a character breakfast do we really need to make breakfast reservations every day?

we will be staying at the poly and will probably just eat at the restaurant there, not the character breakfast

It mostly depends on your party size. When it's just the 2 of us, we don't make reservations. Whenever we are more than 4 we always make a ADR. Even if we are just stopping by the desk at the end of the evening and make it for the next day. Also, we usually do a walk up as soon as they open. If we want to do a breakfast for around 8:30 we always make an ADR. You can always just pick up the phone in your room and call and make it before heading down. BTW--Kona Cafe can be quite popular for breakfast.

We've always eaten at Kona (2 of us) w/o breakfast reservations. We usually are there 8:30-9:00. BuT the last 3 visits, there have been waiting times up to an HOUR!!
So I'd suggest if you go early, you might be ok. But anything later and I would make reservations...especially if you know about what time you will be eating.
To note: No way we were going to wait an hour for breakfast!! We just hopped on the monorail and ate at the GF cafe. Next time we may just swing over to the next stop and eat breakfast at the Wave. Being in a monorail resort like the Poly gives you those options.
