What time do most of the places in Downtown Disney open? Or the Resorts?

We are staying 4 nights at DLH, anticipating 3 of our mornings will begin pretty early to hit EE at the parks (assuming they have it) or regular rope drop.

Normally we will eat breakfast, an afternoon snack, and a fairly early dinner. My son and husband are cranky when they are hungry, so we try to avoid starting off the day that way,

Are any of the places in DTD or DLH even open for us to eat before we hit the parks, or are we going to be doing room service most of the time?

Guess it depends on when you are going. I wanted to run into DTD on a Sunday morning in July a couple of years ago and there wasn't much open at 8. Most places opened at 9. I wanted a coffee (at the bakery beside Disney store) and the Disney store but they were both still closed til 9. I didn't go further into DTD.

Every time I have gone (which is usually peak season), everything in DTD is closed when we go for the 7am EMH. We usually do a grocery delivery (or bring breakfast food with us if we have driven) and eat in the room. We bring VIa singles to make coffee in the room. We never have tried room service because I'm not patient enough to wait for it.

I was under the impression the bakery on the far end near the bag check as well as Jamba opens pretty early.

We're going in Dec when EMH will be 7AM and I'm trying to figure out our options too. Wish Steakhouse 55 opened earlier.

As for room service, can't you order in advance, the night before, for a specific delivery time? That way you are not waiting for anything.

We were able to do this when we stayed at DLH last year- you hang your order on the door the night before & select a 15 minute window for delivery. It was great!

We always bring breakfast bars to eat in line. It didn't look like many options for the 7am EMH and what was there was crowded with long lines.

Go downstairs to Steakhouse 55 if you have the time. In my opinion, the best breakfasts resort wide. They open early, I want to think we ate there at 7 one morning.

We just got back last week from staying at Paradise Pier. The bakers and Jamba Juice were not open for EMH. White water snacks in Grand Californian was and so was the little snack bar in the lobby of PP. White Water snacks had coffee, milk, juice, bagels, muffins and little packages of cereal available that early.

My recollection is that the coffee shops at each of the resort hotels open at least by 6:30 AM. The sit-down places such as Steakhouse 55, Goofy's, Storyteller's, and Mickey's Surf's Up open at 7 AM. Earl of Sandwich, Rainforest Cafe, and most of the other downtown Disney food locations that serve breakfast or snack foods open at 8 AM. At least that's the way it is with 8 AM park opening and 7 AM early entry. I don't know if some of these places have different hours at other times of the year.

I don't know if you'll have much luck finding a wide variety of places to have breakfast at that early in the morning. As others have mentioned, Goofy's Kitchen and Steakhouse 55 serve breakfast/brunch by 7 AM (or a few minutes later) inside the Disneyland Hotel itself. However, if you don't mind missing a bit of a extra magic hour at Disneyland Park... you could always try and reserve a table during breakfast in the park at the Plaza Inn - with Minnie & Friends. On days with early entry, they start serving their breakfast buffet at 7 AM. Though, the first seating is probably at approx. 7:10 AM (as most places are). If you are quick-ish eaters you can eat during the hour of early entry and visit with a few characters and then escape into the park just before the official rope-drop for regular guests happens at 8 AM.

BUT these times can change depending on park hours. I am basing this all upon the park opening at 8 AM... if however the park is supposed to open at 9 AM or what-have-you... AND has a magic morning scheduled... you'll be able to make a reservation by 8 or 8:10 AM then.

Hope that helps a bit!

Thanks everyone for the feedback.
I'm thinking that our best bet will be to keep some yogurts in the fridge (assuming we have a working fridge), have that before we leave the hotel and then either have a late breakfast (like 10:00-ish) or earlier lunch.
