We have an 8 am pre park opening ADR for BOG. We have done that twice already and enjoyed it, but with the rising prices at BOG, I considered changing to a 7:45 at The Wave or Kona. I think our breakfast would be better and less expensive. Then we could walk or monorail over to the MK. What do you think? Seems like BOG is so popular maybe I'd be crazy to give it up, and we would miss the first mine train ride, but we already have two fastpasses for it that week of our trip. Who has done an early breakfast at The Wave or Kona? What would you do?

Well... you've already done BOG breakfast twice, and you have two FP+ for 7DMT so I'd mix it up a bit and do something new! Breakfast at Kona is amazing, and while we haven't had breakfast at The Wave, I've heard great things about it, and we've always enjoyed our other meals there. I think I'd recommend Kona and then monorail to MK- if for no other reason than to have a new experience at WDW!

I've had breakfast at the Wave. They have a nice buffet reasonably priced, but you can also order off of the menu.
Kona is also good for breakfast. The Tonga Toast is amazing. If you are a coffee drinker try the press pot at Kona...very good!

I have a 8am pre-park ressie at BoG this Weds. I was showing my friend the menu, so we could pre-order,
and I saw the price went up a bit. I'm keeping the ressie only because it's her 1st visit and I'm excited to take her in before the park opens.

I think it is really special for first time visitors. We have some amazing photos that look like we are in the park by ourselves (we are not, of course- there are many others on their way to their breakfasts, too). People who see them say things like, "What did you do? Buy out the park?" Near impossible to get empty Main Street photos, but you can get some great photos of the empty paths where guests are not allowed to go on their way to breakfasts.

My only real reservation (pun intended) is that my mom will be with us and she has never done the pre-park breakfast. We tried to take her last time she travelled with us, but they changed park hours a few weeks before our trip to open at 8 am instead of 9 so we cancelled. But she has eaten in the castle several times for lunch and dinner, and she has no interest in riding SDMT, so she would probably just as soon have a more relaxed breakfast at a resort.

It's a difficult choice for sure. Have you asked your Mom which she would prefer?
Even though she won't ride 7DMT, she may still want to go in to an empty MK.

My dilemma about that morning...we already have a 7DMT fastpass at 10am. We will be done eating before the park opens.
Should we take that 1st ride without a fastpass on 7DMT anyway with a full stomach or should I take her on Peter Pan (No fastpass)

I totally agree with you...1st time in a practically empty Magic Kingdom is really special...
and it will be her very first time walking into MK, so even more special.
We are not watching the welcome show that day due to the ADR, but she will get to see the welcome show
on Friday (my birthday) seeing the show on my bday is a must do.

That certainly sounds like the voice of reason and adventure. I do like new experiences. I know I would miss the near-empty park in the morning, but I would not miss waiting in the line to get into the park for 30 minutes. Might be nice to arrive right at 8:50 and walk through the turnstiles.

How the CMs decide to work SDMT on any given morning seems to vary. We have been there when we finished eating breakfast at 8:30 and got in line for SDMT. A CM held us back until 8:45, then let us on SDMT right at RD. We were able to ride SDMT twice before the rope drop crowds arrived.

A couple of weeks ago, however, we were done eating at 8:30 and lined up to ride SDMT, and unfortunately, the CM held us back until the rope drop crowd already filled the queue at SDMT (about 8:55). Then he took us through the Fastpass line. We didn't have to wait long in line to ride, but we waited about 25 minutes from breakfast to when they let us on. By the time we were done with one ride on SDMT, RD crowds had already filled queues at SDMT, PP, and A&E.

So it is hard to predict what will happen. I really wish they would be a little more consistent.

We did not find riding with full stomachs to be any issue at all. It is a very smooth ride. My kids LOVE SDMT, so we also get FP+ around 10 am on days when we do pre-park breakfast at BOG. We like riding SDMT as often as possible. On the day we rode SDMT twice after breakfast, we had a 10 am FP for SDMT. My kids loved riding it three times that morning. I don't think you will get tired of SDMT after only two rides.

I would probably ride SDMT after breakfast then head straight to PP, but whether you have a 5 minute line at PP or a 30 minute line may depend on how soon the CM lets you on SDMT and the general crowd levels on the day you are there.

I LOVE Kona for breakfast! It's a super delicious choice, and you can eat quickly and head over to the park hopefully or 9am! If you've got fp for mine train later on, then spend the money on what's going to be worth it for breakfast

So if we do this, what is the best way to travel? We are staying at Boardwalk Inn and will have a car. Would you drive to TTC and walk to Poly for breakfast, then monorail to MK, or would you take resort transportation to MK, monorail to Poly, and monorail back to MK?

Is there a better option?

It depends on how many "rules" you want to follow. Some people would say you just park at the Poly all day, return there afterwards to pick up your car at the end of the day. I'm not sure how that works nowadays with parking.

I'd say: drive to the TTC in the morning(it'll be nicer and take less time than dealing with disney transport) and park closer to the Poly side of things, and just walk from the lot up to the Poly (there's a bridge that you go over, and it's more on the left side of the lot). OR tram into the main TTC area & walk to the Poly from there, more efficient that having to wait for more transport.

Then monorail or boat to & from the park after breakfast

Thanks for the input!

I am a rule follower for sure. I just think life goes more smoothly for everybody that way.

What I could do to make life easier for Mom would be to drop her at the Poly, drive to TTC, walk to Poly, have breakfast then travel to MK. On the way back, she could take bus transport back to resort and I could take care of getting the car.

I'm trying to minimize her walking.

Would there be less walking with Poly boat to MK or monorail to MK?
