Breakfast on Marathon Morning

I'm doing the WDW Half on January 8. I don't leave until the afternoon on the 9th (well, probably noon-1 with Magical Express), and was thinking about doing a fun breakfast to celebrate the Half on Sunday morning. But I'm wondering how difficult transportation will be on the morning of the Marathon - say going from CBR to the Beach Club for Cape May Cafe or the Poly for Ohana. Should I just forget a special breakfast and do a special dinner the night after the Half instead? What transportation experiences have people had for morning ADRs or just plain getting around on Marathon morning?

We were just there a little over a week ago with a marathon on Saturday. We did Cape May Breakfast and stayed at All Star Music. We left 45 mins before our reservation at 9am and got there on time. We took the bus from ASMu to HS and caught the boat to BC. We walked in just on time :)

That was a night time half so it wouldn't effect breakfast at all since the roads didn't close until 8:15 pm.

Once the parks are opened they do have transportation to them so as long as you make the breakfast after Epcot opens that day you'll be able to take the bus to the park and then from there to the Boardwalk area resorts. Leave a little extra time because not only will you be making 2 bus connections but the buses might have to take a longer route to go around the closures. The full finishes around the Boardwalk and then through Epcot so you could also get a chance to see some of the full runners finish if you go early enough.

I admit I have always slept in on the Sunday after the half so I can't give you specifics on the time it takes but if you ask on the WISH boards someone probably can.

Thanks Frank. I wasn't sure where to ask it. I did put it in my new "team" thread over there, so we'll see.

And yeah...I'm assuming I'll want to be up for breakfast...I may just want to sleep!

I don't know about that. We got a letter in our resort room the day before that stated that if you have a breakfast scheduled at a different resort to give yourself enough time as roads would be closed due to the marathon. I don't know anything about the marathons, but I do know that some roads were already closed because we did ask at the front desk to make sure.

I know for certain, I started the run at exactly 10:00pm. The hotel probably handed out the January paperwork by mistake and based their answer on that event. The fact they called it a marathon leads me to think that is the case because there was no marathon for the Wine & Dine event, only a half and a 5K. The only road effected by the 5K was between the TTC and MK and it ran before the park opened.

Unfortunately the coordination between Disney Sports and the resorts leaves a lot to be desired so them telling you that really doesn't surprise me. Often times we have to correct information that is given out falsely by CM's regarding the running events on property over on the WISH boards.

Awww, I see. I do know that when we took the bus back to the resort that evening from Epcot the highway in one direction looked like a total nightmare.
