Where would you recommend breakfast on our AK day? We want a buffet-style due to time constraints and don't really care if there are characters present or not. Just want something quick and convenient. Also, for those that pick Boma, is there easy access to the park?

We are actually doing Boma for breakfast before heading to AK.. When you leave AKL just hop on the AK bus..

Are you staying at AKL? If not, you may not want to deal with getting to AKL for breakfast. Getting from AKL to AK will be easy (bus).

We did Breakfastosaurus at 8:10am when the park opening time was 9am. We waited at the rope near Dino-Rama a short time after breakfast and then were allowed to head to Expedition Everest just before the "common folk" who were waiting for park opening at Discovery Island. We picked up fastpasses for EE before getting in the standby line; we were on the 1st train for EE with FP's in our pocket good for 9:40am... :thumbsup2

Breakfastosaurus gets my vote if you plan to get to the park before opening. Breakfast was okay, servers were great, and character interaction was good; it's not real quick though.. :goodvibes

psst.......over here......come closer...... :listen:

get a ps at Breakfastasaurus for as far before opneing as you can. That way you beat the gate crowds, which get particularly bottlenecked, and you're already at the back of the park by the time it opens.

Now, don't tell anyone. ;)

What time do you suggest making breakfast reservations for if you want to be on the first tour through AK? I've heard that is the best time to see all the animals.

We have had breakfast at Donald's Breakfastasaurus 3 times in the past . My daughters 4 and 6 loved the characters and the selection of food . I noticed on the poll that Boma is leading. What am I missing about this restaurant that it is doing better than Donald's? What kind of food do they serve? Is it a buffet? Are there characters? Thanks

Boma is a family restaurant serving breakfast and dinner. It will capture the essence of vibrant life in the African marketplace. This family-fun buffet restaurant provides guests the ability to savor the African experience, which has multicultural influences. The restaurant showcases an exhibit kitchen, wood-burning grill and rotisserie.

This is an all you can eat experience, but unlike traditional buffet lines, where you start at one end and work your way across...Boma offers "pods". Each pod has a selection of food and generally a chef nearby to answer questions.

Breakfast features over 45 different items!
Your Choice of Orange Juice or West African Frunch (a combination of lemonade, pineapple juice, guava juice, orange juice, and papaya juice).
Pastries - muffins, breads, almond bear claw, scones, assortment of cream cheeses including sundried tomato, bagels, Danish, and zebra bread
Seasonal Fresh Fruits - cantaloupe, honeydew, mango, papaya, grapes, strawberries, and pineapple.
Dried Fruits including mango, papaya, coconut
Cereals - granola, rice crispies, fruit loops, and raisin bran
Pancakes and Waffles
Omelets made to order with a selection of ingredients.
Bacon and Sausage and Ham
Potatoes with red and green pepper and paprika
Scrambled Eggs
Brioche (like French toast, yummmy! with raisins)
Pap (white corn meal), oatmeal, quinoa porridge; toppings included fruits, brown sugar and cinnamon
Bobotie - corn beef, eggs, cream, potato and onion
Vegetable and Meat Lovers Breakfast Pizza
Cured pork loin
Carved Breakfast Ham

Pressed Pot of Kenyan Coffee - Extra

I choose Boma. I have not been to Breakfastasauras but I have not heard good things, and since you mentioned not caring about whether or not characters are there, Boma seems like the right choice. The food is excellent, make sure you try the special juice they offer! I crave it every morning!

Have a magical trip .. :wizard:

Really enjoyed it at Breakfastasaurus in May.

Oh no...the votes are still sooooooo close! You guys were supposed to help me decide. :teeth:

If time is the issue I would choose Breakfastasaurus... unless you can't get a good ADR time. It's in the park, so you won't have to rush once you're done eating. The atmosphere may not be quite as nice, but the food was very good. Have fun!

Thanks Redwitch. Boma sounds great. That would be perfect for breakfast for just me and hubby. It's great to not have to wait in line. My kids will still want to go to Breakfastasaurus which is fine for one of the days that we do AK. I have been to WDW so many times and yet there are so many restaurants that i have never heard of/ been to . We always seem to do the same things and i want to start to try different things now that my kids are getting older. These boards are great to hear about all the different things and places to go.
Thanks!

Ariel....

DD and I had breakfast here a couple of years ago and are going back on our "down day" this fall. I'm soooo excited! I never get breakfast when we travel, she's not a breakfast food lover. But Bomas is different.

I for one, plan to spring for the pressed coffee. After a week of Nescafe, I deserve it!!!

ENJOY!

I would say Boma.  DH and I love Boma. The food is very different but Boma is sooo worth it.
