Anyone been to both and have a preference? We have ADR's at 'Ohana but will be there again at dinner so thinking about Kona instead. Characters are nice, but not a make or break for us. So what would your preferences be?

Thanks!!

will you have children w/you? if so, what are the ages? that is something to consider. or, is this trip adults only? we have been travelling to wdw now for about 8 years w/out children(they are adults)and do enjoy character meals, but we have enjoyed breakfast at kona several times. i guess it boils down to: buffet/family style or table service. i would pick table service for these choices for breakfast. whichever you do, enjoy!

Honestly? I used to love Kona when they had the fabulous coffee. Since they switched to regular Nescafe or whatever it is that they serve in most of the World, it's just another breakfast.

My kids (14 and 9 at the time) adored the 'Ohana breakfast. I don't recall thinking that any one menu item was particularly spectacular, but I don't remember thinking, "Yuck, I'll never do this again."

OH NO!! You mean they don't sell Kona coffee??!!?? I was going to make a special trip there after our 'Ohana's breakfast to get some!!

Kanga, ya never know, they may have changed back to the good stuff in the last two years. I was really surprised and disappointed when we went in '03 and there was no fabulous coffee. In '04, I looked around and thought, "Why did I come here if the coffee is so ordinary?"

But I'm a coffee nut. I'm usually fonder of African varieties, but the coffee at the Kona Cafe was just too wonderful to be ignored. (I'm taking my own beans with me this year. It's just so hard to get a great cup of coffee, y'know?)

Maybe someone will take pity on us and report from the Poly this week that the "kona" part of Kona Cafe is back in the cups? Fingers crossed!

I had breakfast at Kona in November '05 and they definitely had the Kona coffee. I'd been looking forward to it from the day we got there since WDW is such a total black hole for good coffee! Love the Tonga Toast at Kona!!

go to Kona - like you said you are already doing Ohana's dinner and personally, I thought that character meal was the worst one we have ever been to. Boring food, boring time - lots of money for buffet. Kona is yummy!!!

we are doing Ohana breakfast a couple of times but we will have meals at Kona as well, the menu is more varied, the food is far superior in my opinion and my daughter will be able to eat here ...LOL

The kona press pot is still available but if you just ask for a coffee then you will be served the regular stuff.... press pot is worth it, lovely.
