Hello everyone!

I'm so glad to find this forum...my boyfriend makes fun of me for being so obsessed, but I can't help it - what a blast!! I think about our upcoming trip 24/7.

We are staying at POR from 5/10 to 5/15. (Sweetie has not been to DW in 20 years...boy is he in for a surprise! ) Anyway, my question is this...

We'd like to save a bit of $$ by eating breakfast in the room. I know the rooms at POR are supposed to have refridgerators. We are flying so won't have a car to go offsite to pick up some groceries. Do any of the resorts (specifically POR) have little "markets" where you can buy a half-gallon of milk, loaf of bread, muffins, etc.?

Thanks!!

POR should be great. Me and my fiance are going from 11/7-11-15 this year for our honeymoon. A limited selection of groceries, snacks, and sundries are available at Fulton's General Store in port orleans.

How are you getting to the hotel? If town car, you can request to make a grocery stop. I would recommend it highly. We ate brkfst in our room every morning and it not only saved $ but time too. I was able to get everyone moving much quicker in the morning if we ate in the room. Try cereals, muffins, bagels, coffecakes, fruit, & don't forget to get a case of water too, $2.50 a bottle in the parks.

There is also a service we have used called wegoshop.com. Our flight from Denver always arrives very late and most of the stores are closed. Anyway for a fee they will deliver groceries to your resort for you. We used them in January for water, breakfast foods, snacks, protein shakes etc. They are very nice and I heard about them on this board. You are very smart to eat in the room, it saves time and money!

Thanks for the advice. We are using the Magical Express to get to the hotel so there won't be any stops. I did the same thing on a family trip a few years ago (ate breakfast in the room) and it was a big success. Faster, cheaper, and usually heathier too!

I'm thinking that I may just cram some non-perishable, non-squishable food into our bags (individual OJ bottles, granola bars, etc.) into my suitcase and hope for the best.

The ONE breakfast I have to eat out is the Tonga Toast at Kona Cafe. Yummmmmmm!

Or you could send a package down ahead of you packed with non perishables. Make sure you check a couple of weeks ahead of time to find out what day exactly you would need to send it to arrive at the right time. I tried sending out once on a Fri afternoon for Wed arrival, and was told it would be extra shipping charges. Next time I know not to cut it so close. Don't forget to pack utensils and plates.

We stayed at CSR in Nov. and went to the Boardwalk one evening. There is a shop there that has a big variety of foods, I'm sorry I don't remember the name. We bought quarts of milk and juice and boxes of cereal, 2 liter pops and big bags of snacks. They bag everything up for you and we were off back to our resort.

Another idea - there are bakeries in MK, the BWK, MGM, and Epcot. You could get something the night before, right before you leave the parks. (muffin, pastry, big pretzel)

One of my must haves is a Mickey waffle! Don't know about POR, but the food court at CBR was actually pretty quick, especially if you don't go back to your room afterwards.

Another idea, hey it is Disney after all - which saves time is to have a quick snack in the morning (say granola), and then a late morning treat. The line for ice cream (and other treats) is very short around 10:30 am. There is a bagel place near Ariel's Grotto, and there are a bunch of other options, you just have to keep your eyes open. This then enables you to eat your lunch and dinner at slightly off times, which can save LOTS of time.

We always pack a box of Nature's Valley granola bars (the crunchy kind). They fill us up in the morning and last usually until lunch and are portable. We've also taken packets of dry flavored oatmeal and eaten them by heating up plain water in the coffee pots. If you bring dried fruit, raisins or trail mix, you can mix that in for a quick breakfast.
