Breakfast in Disneyland

I know, we've discussed this subject to no end............
I heard that if I chose to dine at the Plaza Inn for Breakfast, and I don't need a Character intervention........I could just do a walk up and eat outstide?
Plaza Inn Breakfast Or , can I make a PS and when I get there , just say, outside will be fine............Do the characters stay mosty inside? I will be with DS19 and we would rather save a "valuable" table for a family with the little tykes who REALLY want to see the characters. But watch me....I will end up with son and say : "excuse me son, I must go in side for a few moments to take some photos!!" ha ha ha ha The Plaza Inn seems like the best breakfast menu?

I think if you are going to eat at the Plaza Inn and see characters, you better put your name down near the reservation list once you get in the park.

Characters visit inside & outside at Plaza Inn. If you want to eat here, I'd recommend a reservation. We ate there outside last Jan. and there were some problems with people seeing the characters, and coming in through a side gate to try to get autographs. We told at least one group that the characters were only for people doing the character breakfast, and finally a CM started keeping an eye on the gate better. I've heard that they started using a hand stamp or something to indicate who was part of the breakfast as another way to handle this problem, but I can't remember for sure...

yes they do use a handstamp and I think mostly its due to the fact that you have to go out and around the restaurant if you need to use the bathroom...so when they call you in to seat you they give you a button and stamp the hand! and to be truthful, I have gone to that breakfast at all different times of the year and never have I felt that I could just walk up without having made PS in advance...the breakfast is really really good and its always been well filled up...I would definitely make a ps and not chance it....

I think you may be confusing the plaza breakfast with Minnie and the carnation cafe. You can likely sit out side and eat at the carnation on main street without PS.Or make PS when you get to the park in the morning. You will be seated outside (its all they have there). If you want to eat at the Plaza, you really should make PS. And as the others have said, you will see characters both inside and out.
