I will be going to Universal this spring with a high school marching band. We are "scheduled" to arrive at 8 am and need to be in a certain area of the park at 9 am ready for the parade. Talk about cutting it close. My question is....do any of you know of a couple of fast food places that are close to the park so that we could stop in and split the bus between a couple of places? :confused3

I'm also considering suggesting that we take some types of breakfast foods to pass out on the bus......any ideas besides pop tarts??:lmao:

Thanks for ANY suggestions that you might have. We've done Disney as a group but none of us have been to Universal.....

Don't know about fast food places close to the park, as we've always stayed on-site & haven't ventured off. My guess is that time in the morning would probably be pretty busy for those fast food restaurants close to the park, so it might be hard to get in/out quickly ~ though someone with experience may have better info for you.

As far as food to pass out on the bus, what about bagels, granola bars, or breakfast bars?

As for fast food places, there are a couple on Int'l Drive which is very close. Ponderosa and Sizzlers, perfer Sizzlers. They are both buffets, which means get a table, grab what you want, it can be very fast. You can also get coupons for them, with a dollar off in those visitors books you find everywhere.

As for the bus...dry cereal is good, cereal bars, peanut butter sandwiches, protein will take them til lunch, cheese strings, fruit, muffins (you can get jumbo ones at Costco).

Have fun.

Right by the Quality Inn, just off I92, is the world's largest McDonalds. I exit south of the theme park exit.

Since you need to be at the park so early, I doubt they would be very crowded at that time. Although, I would call ahead, when I tried to go there at around 7:30 on a Saturday, they had only 1 line open and I re-named them the worlds slowest McDonalds.

Thanks for all of the great replies!! I'll definitely put them in my notebook--gotta plan you know! Kids are usually good to go without "having" to have a hot meal for every breakfast (thank goodness). Buffets are great and that's usually the places that we stop when we're going to competitions or on trips--we also may try to stop in an area where the buses can split off into several different places to eat.

Slowest McDonald's in the world--isn't that the way they are when we're in a hurry?!!:lmao:

I've across the street from the par. For a big group like that... there are the I-Drive restaurants. There's a golden corral buffet at 5535 S. Kirkman Rd. that has an extensive breakfast buffet (across the street from Universal on Kirkman). Also nearby on Kirkman is an Ihop that's fairly large, and a mcdonalds on the corner opposite the golden corral. There's also a Burger King behind the golden corral.

I'd recommend calling any place before going if you have a big group like that, though.

We brought a small collapsible cooler with us and made a grocery run. I bought the cereal in its own bowls, plastic spoons, breakfast bars, pop tarts, yogurt, milk and fruit. I used the cooler for the milk and yogurt. Brought plenty of zip lock bags filled them with ice. It made breakfast quick and easy. I full baggie of ice lasted all day.

Oooh, hadn't thought about yogurt!! Great idea! We always keep a cooler on the bus for drinks so adding another for yogurt, etc. is a great idea! WOW!! Yeah, I would definitely give anyone a heads up that a bus is headed their way--to benefit both of us! Thanks for the reminders!!:goodvibes
