PLEASE HELP!!! I'm in a planning nightmare. I have a 10:50 ressie at chef mickeys but just found an 8:20 at the crystal palace (which gets me into MK before opening) how does the food compare at thee two places? I know some people think mickey's food isn't that great...but I was able to find a dinner ressie later in our trip. So...breakfast with Mickey or Pooh?? :confused3

Crystal Palace by far the best food and service:banana: as our last two trips Chef Mickey was not good at all and service worse. IMO:thumbsup2. In any park if you go for breakfast before park opens and say your done eating before park opens they have it roped off with a CM watching until opening time. we seen this at HS when we ate over there very early at Hollywood and Vine character meal as people were lined up outside the gates to get in and try and get fast passes for Toy Mania and to make it fair for all they rope it off until 9 AM... Tusker House with Donald and friends in AK is not a problem as AK opens early.:cheer2:

DEFINITELY Crystal Palace -- better food, nicer theme and early entrance into the MK!

:thumbsup2The only way I would keep Chef Mickey's is if your kids really want want the characters there more. Best buffet food was Crystal Palace.

I agree with everyone else....Crystal Palace all the way. Much better food and service, we love Crystal Palace breakfast :thumbsup2

We've done both, most recently in January, and can say hands down Crystal Palace over Chef Mickeys. When we have been to Chef Mickeys, we haven't felt that the food was very good and the place seemed messy. Going forward, we've decided that we will skip Chef Mickeys.

Looks like we will be getting up early and having breakfast at the Crystal Palace :) I guess I should mention that there will be three of us on the trip, myself, DH, and my Godmother/aunt. My husband and I are in need of some Disney Magic and my aunt very graciously invited us to go along with her :wizard: The night we arrive, I made a reservation at the Kona Cafe...Chef Mickey's also has a reservation at 9:00 that night. We tried to get into CM last year when we went for my birthday, but couldn't ever get a reservation. I have too many places I want to go....and not enough time in the "World". So....should I put CM out of my head all together and just go with Kona? Or skip Kona dinner in favor of CM?

Kona is AWESOME!! We did a late Chef Mickey's a few years ago, before I started to hear the quality had gone down, and it wasn't all that great then. Plus Kona's, to me, is better for just adults!!!

We enjoyed both of these character breakfasts. We actually did a 10:45am Chef Mickey's one day and a 8:05am Crystal Palace on another day. I am actually going to start a thread going into more detail about Chef Mickey's because we had a great expereience there! The 8am at Crystal Palace is great for getting into the park early, but it seemed like a lot of people had that same idea as us! If you had to choose one over the other, Crystal Palace was very nice and I would go with that; but Chef Mickey's was a must do for us.

Chef Mickey is not on our family's list of dining place anymore. :sad2: Their food lacks quality even for buffet (both breakfast and dinner). We like Kona for any meal and Crystal Palace breakfast is one of the best!

If I were eating at Chef Mickey's, it would be breakfast (but we much prefer Crystal Palace as I stated above). I would not do dinner at Chef Mickey's. We've given up on "buffet" dinners at Disney as the food is just NOT that good. I'd go with Kona.

I agree with Kathy. We stopped going to Chef Mickey's several years ago in favor of Crystal Palace. We love Crystal Palace for breakfast. If you want to see the Fab Five characters, Tusker House breakfast at AK is supposed to be great - we are hoping to go there on our next trip, but we will still do CP.

I'd definitely do Kona for dinner instead of Chef Mickey's. We do love dinner at Boma, but other than that, we don't do buffet dinners. We do schedule at least one character breakfast each trip - Crystal Palace is a must do, but we have also enjoyed O'Hana (family style instead of buffet) and are hoping to do Tusker House next time. Akershus is a good buffet breakfast if you want to see princesses, but we haven't been in a couple of years.
