Hi Everyone

Just wondered if anyone had heard this one. DD has said that on the last day of school there was a rumour going around that the boy who had appeared in a recent advert for a well known brand of breakfast cereal has since died.

It was for the cereal that is usually promoted by Tony the tiger..... in this latest one which ran over the World Cup month the young boy was singing "They're gonna taste great......" and had a crowd of other youngsters following him (I think).

Anyway the rumour is that he has since died and she was asking me if I had heard anything about it, but I haven't, so just wondered if any body else had. :confused3

This was on the radio. They tracked him down to either Australia or South Africa or something. Radio 1 Scott Mills listeners may recall the exact answer

hey there. just did a wee shifty about to see if i can find any more info on this and there is a statement out from the breakfast cereal company saying that the boy is alive and well in his native south africa. the rumours that her killed himsel/died are all false.

just though i would let u know x :)

I herd that on Radio 1.

I remember Scott Mills going on about it and he lives in South Africa, an Urban myth I believe.

My DS14 told me about this rumour in his school last week - nevertheless it's good to hear he's safe and well.

Glad to hear he's safe & well but it doesnt make to advert any less annoying

I agree, I'm pleased he's OK, but my DD's always turn the sounds off on the TV when he comes on

This rumour was going around DD's school, I told her it was a load of rubbish. Look at all this extra publicity they are getting by creating such a bad ad - they are laughing all the way to the bank :)

Thanks for replying everyone. I have told DD that he is alive and kicking in South Africa. God knows who starts rumours like this, surely not the company themselves.

Have just saw the ad again, drat, thought it had finished its course. :sad2:

My DD heard this at school too but I told her it was just an urban myth.

I do like Tony the Tiger but the song is so annoying. :sad2:

I heard this too, funny how rumours circulate the whole country. What an advert though!
