Odd question, but if you eat at a breakfast buffet can you grab a piece of fruit for the road, say an apple or banana? I ask partly because every night my husband has an apple, and I usually try to have a banana around mid-morning, it would be great to be able to grab one for later. Just curious. Thanks!

we went this past fall and my best friend took a apple or banana from every breakfast buffet we went to and she wasnt the only one, i imagine a lot of those whole fruits go bad anyways sitting there and she has sugar problems so the fruit was there for her to eat later in the day when she needed it.....hope we dont get flamed...:scared1:

I know I grabbed a bannana, maybe even an apple & a bannana before we left CP after having breakfast.

Thanks everyone - I'm figuring we'll have enough snack credits to use for fruits if we don't eat at one of the buffets, but this is good to know just in case we do. Particularly CP on our last day, it would be good to have a healthy snack for the flight.

I have always thought the price you pay at a buffet covers only the food you consume while there, no take-outs, not even a cookie or piece of fruit. Many of my friends and relatives disagree with me though, my mom included. I don't take anything with me, but my mom will almost always tuck away a cookie or piece of fruit for later, LOL. It doesn't bother me that she does it, even though I don't. As long as she's not pulling ziploc bags out of her purse. I have an aunt who does that. I won't eat at buffets with her. :rotfl:

LOL - my Grandma used to do that when we'd go to Mama Leone's in NYC, she'd bring an actual white paper Italian bread bag to put the bread in when we were done. But even funnier was when we'd go to a Chinese food restaurant, we'd bring IN a loaf of Italian bread for my Grandpa because he HAD to have bread with every meal!!!

Thanks though, we probably won't need to take anything since we have so many snack credits and can easily use it for fruit and such.

I guess my thought had always been 'if you put it on your plate, even with the intention of eating that apple after breakfast, if you don't eat it that it will just go to waste.' They can't very well put that apple back out.

They never said you couldn't, although like PP at a buffet it's not really expected. That said, I did it one day for my dd5. Since she only ate about 5 grapes and a strawberry at Cape May, I did take a banana for later. She needed it about an hour later.
I wouldn't have done it for the rest of us in our party that ate a decent amount of food though.

I have taken an apple or banana before from CP - why not if you take it their going to throw it away anyway.

I think that, technically, you can't "take out" any food from buffets - but- I think with a piece of fruit... it's don't ask, don't tell!

At H&V my son fell asleep before eating and the waiter gave us a take out box to make him up a lunch.:goodvibes
