Previous poster is correct: there is NO counter service/quick service on Disney property that has a buffet. ALL of the buffets are located in table-service restaurants. Disney Dining is notorious for handing out bad information. Keep in mind that these are call-center workers (some even work from home), most of whom are not even in the Orlando area (many of them are working in Tampa, 90 minutes away from Disney World. A fair number of them have never even been to Disney World!)
Anyway, the info you were given is totally incorrect. Beach Club Marketplace is the "general store/gift shop" at Beach Club and it has a
small food counter...so it's a counter-service place...where you can choose items like egg croissant sandwich or blueberry muffin. It's like all counter service places, though -- you choose what you want, and pay for each item separately: there's no buffet where you pay one all-inclusive price and choose everything you want. The
only buffet at Beach Club is the Cape May Cafe. Cape May is a traditional buffet where you pay one (big) price, and have long food buffets with a selection of hot & cold breakfast foods. Cape May is located at the Beach Club resort (it's off one end of the lobby at Beach Club--not near the Marketplace.) At breakfast, it is a character buffet; at dinner it's a "Clam Bake"...basically a sea food buffet. Both options are fairly pricy, but they are all you care to eat. Breakfast is like $25 per person, dinner is about $35 per person.
Captain's Grille, a regular table service restaurant with menus & waiters, is located at the Yacht Club, has ala carte breakfast menu as well as a smaller breakfast buffet (no characters) The breakfast buffet there is under $20...want to say it was in the neighborhood of $18 per adult?
At the Grand Floridian, Gasparilla is the counter service/quick service. It is about the same as the Beach Club Marketplace again with limited offerings, which you order and pay for separately. Definitely NOT a buffet.
There is a buffet at Grand Floridian: 1900 Park Fare which is a character buffet at both breakfast (Alice in Wonderland characters & Mary Poppins) and dinner (Cinderella, her prince, the stepsisters & stepmother) Again, it's pricey...breakfast over $20 and dinner in the $35 range for adults. AND it books up quickly, due to the popularity of the characters so chances are you will not get in there unless you've booked well in advance.
Other breakfast options if you're at the Grand Floridian are the Grand Floridian Cafe (table service with menu, breakfast will cost you $15-20), or hop the monorail for Contemporary REsort...has Chef Mickeys (another character breakfast buffet, well over $20, and books up months in advance.) Also at Contemporary is The Wave (table service with menu, breakfast will cost you $15-20) which is easier to get into. Or monorail to Polynesian Resort, 'Ohana has family-style meal that is character meal (Lilo and STitch)...well over $20 per adult. Or the Kona Cafe (table service with menu, $15-20 per adult)
If you're going to Magic KIngdom that day, you might try for an early (before the park opens) reservation at Crystal Palace...Winnie the Pooh characters, full breakfast buffet. Again well over $20 and often books up well in advance.
Hope that helps...if you're wanting a breakfast buffet, get online and try to book now. They are very popular!
