Does anyone have any suggestions about what to do for breakfast before EE? We are staying at the GCH and I am trying to figure out the best way to eat before EE. I was thinking that we could grab some pasteries and coffees and eat them in line, but where would be open that early that does food to go. I read that the Hearthstone lounge opens for breakfast at 6am but do they do coffees that we can take away? I was also thinking that we could get some pasteries and juices to keep in the fridge that we could take with us but I really need my morning coffee! Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

If open they would have coffee to go. (this is America, Danauk.....EVERYTHING is "to go" :rotfl: ).

When is EE opening, on the days you are interested? I know that there's a nice bakery (maybe two?) when walking thru DTD (from GCH to the DL front gate). No worries.

Happy New Year. :hippie:

Happy new year to you too Hound!!

We are visiting in the summer so it would be a 7am EE. From what I understand we will need to be at the gate between 6:20-6:30am (not a problem as our body clocks will be 8 hours ahead anyway after the long flight!!) I was thinking if we had to I could line up at the gate whilst DH gets the breakfast stuff then meets me in line.

La Brea Bakery is what i remember seeing on my stroll from GCH - DL (in DTD) in the early morning. Hopefully someone will post on the hours or their experience. (Or scroll through the food sticky at the top of the page).

I posted a great link above with restaurants menus etc. at DLR....DCA, DL, DTD & Hotels. (& also links to WDW):

If there is a line at La Brea at 6:20 - 6:30am when you walk up, I think your idea is a good one. It's only a couple hundred yards from La Brea (thru the security checkpoint) & to the DL gate. The 10-15 min. you earn by splitting up might be the difference between being 5th in line & 55th. Whether you're going to PP or Nemo first, you want to be 5th. :yay:

EDIT - Here's another page on that link that has ALL menus.

There's Whitewater Snacks, in the GCH, though I don't know 100% if they are open that early.

When we were there in November and walked through DTD on early entry morning, nothing was open. We were able to get coffee in the lobby of our tower in the hotel (there was a complimentary set-up from 6:00 to 9:00 or something like that), but luckily we had cereal and milk in the room so the boys had something to eat.

We had the same problem. EE was at 7am and we wanted to be sure to be at the gate EARLY so that we could make it on the SUBs. So, we bought something at Whitewater snacks the day before (cereal and milk, pastries) and then we ate before we went and saved the pastries and fruit for the kids while we were standing in line. The hardest part was that I did not get my coffee until after the sub ride, but I tried my hardest not to have a meltdown.....:rotfl:

I guess we will just have to either grab something from the Hearthstone lounge as soon as it opens or get a pastry the day before and keep it in the fridge over night. I wish there was a kettle in the room for us to make a coffee with. In England kettles, tea and coffee making is standard in any hotel room. Oh well, I guess my morning coffee will have to wait for a few hours!

There is a coffee maker in the room, but the coffee is, well,

Sorry, I am from the northwest and a bit of a coffee snob.

We use the coffee maker to heat up water and have tea (and hot chocolate for the kids). I buy whole milk from whitewater snacks and keep it in the fridge for my tea. Not quite like cream, but close enough when on vacation.

Hope that helps.

Ooh if there is a coffee maker I'll bring some tea/coffee with me! I'm a tea and coffee snob too, I'll just pack some in my case (I've done that before!!)

While it isn't quite coffee it might be worth having some energy drinks or bottled frappuccino to hold you until you can get to proper coffee.

Just drink the bottled frap before you get to bagcheck, b/c no glass is allowed through.

We bring our food (we're driving), others have grocery delivered.

We're bringing: Starbucks fraps in a bottle (my private addiction), oatmeal, fruit, odwalla bars, Naked Protein smoothie & Green smoothies....hoping that will help keep us filled & proteined up for the morning - and maybe as a snack too.

If we stopped for food on an EE day I'd hate myself & all that bread & sugar they serve would weigh me down & tire me out!

I was just there with my 5 yr old this past Saturday and got to the gate around 6:50am for the 7am EE, I grabbed coffee from Starbucks from the lobby of our hotel (Hilton Anaheim) and my little man was too tired to eat anything more than a Fiber One bar I packed for our trip. We were inside the gates at like 7:02 and for being the busiest week of the year, we walked onto every ride we wanted to in Fantasyland, made our way to Tomorrowland to ride Buzz... we ended up at the Riverbelle at 930am for breakfast, and had already been on 11 rides, including POTC. It was perfect time to eat and relax after zipping around the park hitting ride after ride.

In my opinion, unless you are a big breakfast eater, bring a breakfast bar and a coffee on the walk over/shuttle/art bus and then wait to eat until the park starts to get busy, and the restaraunts arent as full.

It worked for us. That EE thing, is the best thing EVER!!!

I really agree with this.....& had similar experiences twice during EE.

- In for EE at 8am (our EE time)
- Toured FL & the left side of the park, 15-17 rides. (& picked up 3 FPs)
- Sat down for a leisurely Bfast between 10:30 - 10:45am at Carnation Cafe. (watching people rush down Main St. who just arrived & we'd already done 1/2 the park.)

Next time I'm gonna do a 10:30 or 11am Character Meal after EE.

BOT - DanaUK, if the place that you mentioned in the GCH that you could pick up coffee....is it a cafe? Have you confirmed it opens at 6am? Where is it in the GCH?

Thanks!
