Breakfast at WL ?

My family and I (wife, daughter 8, son 5) will be staying at the Wilderness Lodge for the first time in late August and relying on WDW transportation to get around. The one consistent complaint I've read about the WL is the crowding and long lines at Roaring Forks, especially in the morning. We like to eat breakfast and get to the parks when they open.
Can anyone share any strategies or options for getting a decent breakfast ? Sounds like the only other option for breakfast at the WL is Whispering Canyon

Thanks

Roaring Fork opens at 6 or 6:30. If you wanted to be at the parks for opening you'd probably be up around then right? Everything is deserted until a little after 7 at the Lodge. I was amazed (and pleased) by how peaceful things were until around 7:20. You can take trays from RF up to the room so one of you could go and get breakfast early, while the rest get ready. If you wanted something simple for breakfast, buy some of the packaged cereal from RF at night, or at a less busy time, and eat in the room. I dont know whether there are fridges in the rooms there yet, but they were supposed to be putting them into all the deluxe resort rooms. You could keep milk for the cereal in the fridge. The Merchantile at the WL sells poptarts, bread, etc, so you could buy some stuff there and figure out breakfast in the room.

My suggestion is also get to RF before 7. OR if you are late risers, Whispering canyon slows down after 930 --- but we never really had any breakfast problems at the WL.

Like the other posters, we never really had a problem at RF really early. People who want breakfast at 8:00 are going to have to wait. If cold cereal, milk and fruit does it for your family, I would suggest buying milk from the store (cheaper than RF) and putting it in your fridge. I can't remember if the store sold cereal, but that would save time, too.

Have fun.

We had absolutely no problems with RF on our trip last Oct. We had pop tarts, breakfast bars, cereal and bananas in the room each morning...didn't want to waste time with a sit down breakfast. We did have a fridge in the room.

We ate lunch at RF forks a couple of times as well...when we came back to use the pool in the afternoon...no problems then either. It was quick and easy!!

Have fun!! WL is truly amazing!!

How about room service? They have a little card that you can fill out for breakfast, hang on your doorknob the night before, and tell them exactly what time you want it delivered within a half hour. Then there would be no waiting on lines, waiting for a table, carrying food back to the room or eating a pop tart! We always like to try room service once on each trip.

We requested, and received, a microwave for our room, at no charge. This was used to heat up quick breakfasts for our DD's before we left for the parks. Sometimes we still went to RF. It was quite crowded at times as far as seating, but I never felt like the wait for food was too long. When we got food from RF, we usually ate it at the bus stop waiting for whatever bus we took to the parks.

The best value and greatest breakfast is but a boat ride away at Fort Wilderness. it is an all you can eat buffet with everything you could ask for on it. We love to go there before going to the parks.

Does anybody else really miss the Pooh character breakfast at Artist Point ? -- it was probably the most relaxing character breakfast ever...
