We are staying at the Grand Floridian for a 4-night long weekend. We have the Deluxe Dining Plan, so I want to try different breakfast options, since we don't have kids and like to eat :)

So far I have 3 breakfasts decided: GF Cafe, Kona Cafe, 1900 Park Fare and I have a spot for one more.

Whispering Canyon Cafe's breakfast menu looked appealing to me, but I just listened to the podcast and my husband and I were wondering if it's worth it going there for breakfast after hearing the so-so review.

Also, the day we would go there is our DHS day. So I made an ADR for 7:50 am. What would the best way to get from the GF to WL be that morning? Is it possible to walk from the TTC to WL?

I know you didn't ask for other breakfast recommendations, but my favorite resort breakfast is Boma at AKL.

I loved Whispering Canyon, although I've only had lunch there.

It's a pretty good breakfast and IMHO the best meal to eat at WCC.

It's a pretty long walk from TTC to WL to say the least and the route isn't very good. Your best bet would be to take a bus. I forget but there also may be a boat you could take.

DS18 and I LOVED the WCC Breakfast back in May...

I had a delicious omelet and DS had pancakes...

IMHO... to enjoy WCC... you need to anticipate and enjoy the "Antics" that they carry out... we played along and had a Wonderful time !

The only boats that leave the TTC are the large ferries that go to the MK. Also to take a bus, or any of the small launched, you would have to transfer at the MK.

To the OP's question, I guess theoretically you could walk to the WL but there are no sidewalks that I can see from Google maps and security may stop you.

We loved the breakfast at WCC! The food is quite yummy, the atmosphere a bit calm (which we like in the morning) and there is a nice selection to choose from.

The best way would definitely be to take the monorail from GF to MK then the boat from MK to WL. It should be running that early. If not, I guess your only option is a bus.

1) I would pass of WCC , unless you only went for the antics.
2) Instead, go to the Wave at Contemporary.
. . . nice breakfast buffet
. . . good food
. . . no characters
. . . no crowds

You could take a cab. I don't think it would cost very much and it would certainly be the fastest at that time of morning. I plan on taking cabs to my early ADR's that are at resorts so I don't have to leave my hotel so early.

Breakfast there is good, but its not special enough to warrant a trip there if you are not eating at the resort. The food is definitely good, but I would not go out of my way to get there.

I'd also recommend Boma or even a character breakfast like Cape May instead. If you're going to travel outside the monorail resort, might as well make it to something really worth the trip! Cape May is nice on an EPCOT day, Boma on an AK or DHS day.

Is it special enough to make it the last thing before we start back on our 1,000 trip home.

Last time we did Boma but didn't have a great meal because right before we got there Amtrak called and told us our train back home was cancelled. So while we were eating we are trying to figure out how to get home so my sons could get to school in two days. (OK TMI didn't really need to write that).

One reason we wouldn't really go back is the cost. My 20 year old son only eats bagels and toaster strudel for breakfast so his two bagels cost us around $10 each at Boma.

Really don't what/need to do a character breakfast since my sons are now 20 and 18.

Thats why I'm looking at WC. My one other son and I and maybe my wife would get the skillet and my other sons could get pancakes or waffles.

Other choices outside a park are I guess Kouzzina and the Wave but they seem a little too exotic or maybe Trails End.

I would even spring for maybe a park breakfast and just get another day for the extra $20 if I thought it was worth it.

Just so you know besides my one son we are big breakfast eaters and need something to keep us going on the road until maybe 1:00 PM.

I liked my WCC breakfast alot - and I'd go back. I got the skillet and everything was piping hot and fresh when I got it. To get there - monorail or boat to MK - then boat to WL.

That said - Boma is a definitely interesting breakfast and would be a change of pace from your other choices. Might take some time to get there unless you take a taxi, though.....

We like WC breakfast at WL. We only had the antics for the evening meal not the breakfast meal. You could take a monarail to Contemporary and then the boat to WL. That is how we have traveled back and forth from there.

FWIW, I'm almost 30 and my Disney trips now are just me and my mom and we like doing some character meals. The food is good and filling (we LOVE breakfast food, too) and the characters leave you alone if you don't seem interested in pictures/interaction.

We really enjoyed the food at 1900 Park Fare (they have bagels, heh), the aforementioned Boma, and Cape May. Cape May is *very* quiet and the characters are very good about leaving you alone - probably because of the convention center.

Kona Cafe is probably the one breakfast we had that really stuck to our ribs that wasn't a buffet. Otherwise, Grand Floridian Cafe and The Wave are our other favorites. We haven't tried Kouzinna yet, but really want to.

WC was 'okay'. I honestly didn't think it was anything more spectacular than IHOP. They didn't do anything special like they do at dinner, so its sort of wasted as an 'experience'. If you just want to eat, by all means, do WC. For me, personally, its not worth going out of the way for - especially if its going to be the last thing I did before leaving WDW.

To get to the Wilderness Lodge, take the monorail from the GF to the Contemporary and then take a boat to the Wilderness Lodge. There is a boat ferry route that shuttles between the WL, Contemporary, and Fort Wilderness all day long.

We loved WCC breakfast during our first visit. This year was a little underwhelming. The food was OK but we were seated in the back away from the action. We will still give it a chance on our next visit.

Well first I don't want to pay 20.00 for a bagel. :)

After I posted I went down the list at allears, I think I'm leaning towards Grand Floridian Cafe or Kona Cafe. More for just visiting the resort vs a memorable meal. As I said Kouzinna or the Wave seem a little "exotic" for my family well it least the kids.

I was thinking about WC but the more I read the more I realized they don't do "stuff" during breakfast do I couldn't get my family "in trouble".

Hmm...

well they DO do STUFF during the Breakfast ! And I have the pictures to PROVE IT !!! LOL

At least they did stuff in May 2010.... maybe they have stopped. But I had a BLAST with DS18 there... The food was great but I wouldn't have loved the WCC without our waitress MJ and all the antics they pulled...

They might when there are a lot of people there, but we were there the week before Christmas and only 5 tables had people at them and it was pretty quiet. Most of the time when we walked by that stay it was pretty quiet, too. They might do stuff at breakfast if the restaurant was full, but it was pretty quiet the week before Christmas. Dinner was always packed, though.

(OP, I totally understand about the bagels. Its a tough choice. Our April trip last year my mom was recovering from chemo and radiation and her tastebuds were anything but predictable. We ate a LOT of buffets so she would have a better chance of finding something that 'tasted right' to her - which was usually a few bits of meat and maybe a few bites of a veggie after trying small bits of practically everything offered. BTW, Grand Floridian Cafe had the BEST french toast I've had on property. At Kona, our favorites are The Samoan and Tonga Toast. :goodvibes)

Thank you for all the feedback. I didn't know The Wave has a buffet. We may go there instead of WCC just for convenience sake. I will call to confirm if they will still be offering it in March.

I called to confirm about the buffet and the Contemporary said it was a la carte for breakfast. So we may do the Cape May Cafe on one of our Epcot mornings and do the GF Cafe the morning we go to MGM.
