I thought I had read here on the DIS a while back that The Wave in the Contemporary had started having a buffet breakfast. Now I can not find the thread or any information regarding this.

I believe I read they were having the buffet for a trial period. Anyone know if they are still offering the buffet breakfast or if they have made it a perminant feature of the restaurant?

TIA

We had breakfast there two weeks ago and yes, they have the buffet. You won't see it when you walk in, it's behind a wall.

Is it just buffet, or are items available a la carte as well? I made an ADR there for my next trip, but would rather not have a buffet breakfast.

I am also considering a breakfast ADR for this. I read that you can get the buffet or order a la carte. I didn't know it was for a limited time. Does anyone know for sure if the buffet will still be there in the fall? Any pics?

Yes, ate there this morning. We all got the buffet. Total cost for 4 adults, 2 bloody marys and Tables in Wonderland discount. Total bill around $89.

Buffet was fine. First section was lox with all the fixins, second was baked goods and bagels, all small versions. Blueberry muffins, banana nut breads, regular and everything bagels. Next was fresh fruits, yogurts, butters and cream cheese. Then hot stuff. Scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, bacon cheese grits, key lime eggs benedict, sweet potato pancakes, whole grain Mickey waffles, sticky cinnamon rolls. Plus steel cut oatmeal and an assortment of regular cereals.

The place was a ghost town. Only 2 other tables and us. We thought it was fine but I don't know if I'd go out of my way to eat there. We did it because we are staying here. Very satisfying and everything was delicious.

We decided that eating a full breakfast in 100 degree temps then going out to the Magic Kingdom doesn't work for us. But I'd rather do the Wave breakfast over Chef Mickey's any day!

The waitress a few weeks ago sounded like the buffet was staying. I have to say that this isn't a gluttony buffet. It's much more manageable with healthier options. I like Chef Mickey (we're going in October), but I too would prefer the Wave.

OP here, thanks for all the replys, I too have an ADR for October DH likes buffets but I rather not do Chef Mickeys, and we want to mix up where we have breakfast , staying at WL and CR is close by.

Our Ratings of The Wave (Breakfast Buffet): (rev 4/5/2011)
. . . food price value: B

NOTE: This is a new location for a breakfast buffet. The
buffet has significantly increased its variety, and now is
very much worth the visit. At just under $20 per adult, it
is extremely reasonable for a WDW buffet. For breakfast, it
is probably the best-kept dining secret.
It has Mickey
waffles and delicious sweet potato pancakes. They use
local fresh fruit and vegetables. For those with a smaller
appetite, one can do the usual ala carte breakfast menu.

I have to agree with you about it being one of the best kept secrets @ Disney, but it does make me wonder if they will continue the buffet if like the pp mentioned the restaurant continues as ghost town. DH does love his breakfast buffets while on vacation :rotfl:

Breakfast at the Wave is one we definitely will add for our Dec 2012 visit -thanks so much for starting this thread! :goodvibes

I too would like to see an answer to another poster's question as to whether The Wave is continuing to have their regular menu, as I am also not interested in a buffet, and will cancel that ADR if all The Wave has is the buffet.

Sorry, I thought I answered that (and I'm pretty sure someone did) but yes, there is a regular menu as well as a buffet. I have to say after looking at what was in the buffet and for the price, our entire party went for the buffet than ala carte. This is not your typical gluttonous Disney buffet. It's realistic and relatively healthy!

See post #8

Also we were discussing The Wave on another thread I frequent and it was stated by someone who was there recently that they do still have the ala carte menu as an option

Thanks to both of you for the answer - I missed that last little sentence, little, but crucial to my needs. At my age I am missing more all the time - thanks for helping me out!
