Breakfast at the Grand Californian

Pixarmom - I've done the GCH entry in the morning, and then lined up near GRR to hightail it to TSMM. I would stick with that area and line and worry about riding Soarin' afterwards. Sometimes they will let the line start walking back to TSMM before 10:00 a.m., and you don't want to miss that if it happens. This was the most successful my friends and I have been in getting on TSMM without a crazy wait. I've gone on TSMM in the morning, in the afternoon and at night - and by far, the early morning GCH line-up by GRR was the best. When we got off of the ride, there were tons of people already in line. You don't want to be stuck in that. Contrary to what some folks think, you are not standing around in one spot for too long. Some CMs will start to walk you over to TSMM at 9:50. Some wait until 10:00. Either way, it seems a lot faster than going to the TSMM line and standing there for 40 minutes in the middle of the day or at night. So even if it tricks your mind into thinking you are getting on the ride faster, that's worth a lot!! It is precisely because many folks are enjoying their morning over in DL that I think it is an excellent time to get on TSMM in DCA!

For those who are curious about the Vons/Safeway delivery, yes, apparently they have stopped signing for deliveries at the DLH & PPH - reportedly because of lack of storage &refrigeration space, but I'm guessing it's for a variety of reasons. DLR and WDW run things a bit differently in this respect. You can still have groceries delivered to the PPH or DLH, but you have to be there when they are delivered to sign for them. If you are a group who likes to take rest breaks or mid-day breaks, that would be the perfect window of time to have groceries delivered. That's what I would do - I would schedule my delivery and then plan my rest break for that time so I would be there to sign for the order, and that way I wouldn't be losing any time that I wasn't already planning to lose. It should be fine.

Otherwise, apparently the GCH is still agreeing to sign for groceries in the absence of the guests who ordered them because they are better equipped to handle such things (because of the Villas). But they will not accept packages with alcohol in them. So if you order liquor, you have to be there to sign for your order.

Usually first-time customers get free delivery. You have to have a minimum of $50 for a delivery, though, so if you only have a couple of items you need then a delivery may not be worth it. If you have to pay for delivery, the price would be either $12.95 or $9.95.

August 21-23, but the Disney website has posted 10-10 for DCA every day over the summer up to August 18, so I was just guessing. But does that not sound right?

It sounds right we have never waited to get into CA when it opens. We do DL first and then head to the GCH entrance/exit. We have always had to wait til 1000 to get going and it was still 20-30 minutes once we got there. Long winding queue.
