Breakfast at the GF or Contemporary before park opening at MK?

We are planning to do breakfast at a monorail resort before starting our day at the MK in October. Should we eat at the Grand Floridian Cafe or The Wave? We've never eaten at either. If we drive to the restaurant, can we use the monorail to get to the MK? Will they be running the boats from either resort to the MK? And how much time should we allow to get to the MK from breakfast? Also, we have dinner reservations in the park right before closing. How late will the resort monorail be running after park close?

Thanks for any information and suggestions.

If you’re driving to the resort for breakfast, you’re only supposed to park your car there while you are eating, not so that you can tour the park for the entire day and not return until after the park ends. I believe it’s a 2 hour window you’re allowed to park for. Technically your car could be towed during the time you leave it there. You’d be much safer parking at TTC and taking the monorail to the resort, eating, and then taking monorail, boat, or walking to the park.

Always been a fan of The Wave. Their breakfast buffet is excellent, but I’m not sure if they’re doing the buffet during COVID. Grand Floridian Cafe is also really good. I’ve only had breakfast there once (been more for dinner which is excellent). Can’t really go wrong with either. Plus both are very large dining rooms so should be good for social distancing. Have a great trip!

Wave buffet is nice. That would be my first choice. GFCafe would be second because it’s such a sun shiny nice location. Wave with menu is my third choice. Needless to say that all are good choices.

Are you planking on getting to MK for park opening? The Wave opens at 7:30am. I don’t think the monorail will be running that early from the TTC to the hotels.

some things to consider and others have mentioned
technically you are only allowed to park at a resort for dining for 2 hours
Monorails operate from 8am to 7pm
so if you have an early morning reservation your only alternatives are to park at the resort, eat and then park at TTC or Uber to the resort
From CR to MK you can walk in 5 min from GF to MK monorail around 5 min. Boats are running from CR, GF hasn't reopened yet so no boat transportation as of now

Both The Wave and GFC are good. I would look at their current menus, which are reduced, and see which one appeals to you

We had breakfast at The Wave last month, it was excellent (we don't have any other experience there to compare with). The buffet was not open and the restaurant did a great job with social distancing. One thing they did I didn't see anywhere else was set extra plates on the table to put your mask on.

I know right now Chef Mickey is serving an all you can eat family style breakfast for 25.00 per adult, I’m not sure the price for children. From the YouTube video it was a lot of different food. Looked way worth the price. This is because of Covid and no characters. I’m not sure when you are going so it may not be the same.

Should we eat at the Grand Floridian Cafe or The Wave?
We stayed at the VGF last week and decided to go to the Wave for breakfast. We've been fans of that restaurant before hand and we were not disappointed. Unfortunately the buffet isn't happening so its just table service. But you can get lots of different things.

Just wantee to add that the resort monorail is running 7am-7pm as of this morning and the 7am start has been since we got here over a week ago. Now, I don't know if it stops at the ttc at 7am - could they walk from ttc to poly to catch it?

The Poly monorail station will be being bypassed, in October due the the renovations that are going to be done at the GCH.

Thanks, all!

Brockash- Do you know what time they have started letting people into the MK? Park opening says 9am, but have you experienced being let in earlier? Also, any idea how long Mainstreet stays open after the official closing time?
