My family is going to WDW at end of June/beginning of July. I have promised my nephew that we could eat at Sanaa so that he can watch the animals while we eat. We were planning on eating breakfast at Sanaa because they are picky eaters, we don't need a reservation, and I am hoping that the animals are a bit more active in the morning. I am trying to decide between 2 days for Animal Kingdom, either:
  • a regular day - go to Sanaa at 7:00 for breakfast, then head to DAK.
  • Early Morning Magic day - go to DAK from 8:00-9:00, then head to Sanaa for breakfast
Any advice?

I’ll send you to the Restaurant Board.

I would pick option 1. I wouldn't want to get into AK, leave and then have to go back and go through security/bag check again. IMHO, option 2 requires too much travel time.

It depends on your plans for AK. Are you trying to rope drop FOP? If so, and assuming the park opens at 9am on your “regular day”, you likely won’t make it in time to be ahead of the crowd if you go with option 1. If you’re not trying to do FOP at RD then option 1 should be fine.

I wouldn't choose either option. I'm not sure where you are staying our how old your nephew is, but what time do you want to drag him out of bed for a 7AM ADR? That seems like it has the potential to turn into a tired, meltdown city day once in the park.

For the latter, I wouldn't want to enter the park twice, that just seems like a hassle.

It's also worth noting that the tables near the windows are for smaller parties (2-4 people) so if your group is bigger than that you'll have to be split up. There's also no guarantee of seeing particularly interesting animal activity.

Just food for thought that in the end it might not be worth having a Sanaa ADR preside over an AK park day (where there are plenty of animals to be seen anyway). Do you have any non-park days on which you can go to Sanaa?

I agree. Even if staying at Kidani, that is one early morning, and I would never leave a park filled with animals to go have breakfast elsewhere in order to maybe see animals.

We stayed at Kidani in February. Sanaa is quick service for breakfast, so no ADR's needed and you can sit wherever there is space. There is no guarantee you'll see much for animals in the morning as they all get 'called in' to be checked over by the handlers during the morning after spending the night on the savanna. They will slowly return to the savanna over time, but if your nephew has a favorite animal, it may not be back on the savanna yet if you're dining on the early side. You'd probably have better luck seeing them later in the morning (after 9AM) vs. right at 7AM. So...based on the animal schedule, I'd go with option 2.

Thanks for the info about animals getting “called in” in the morning. That definitely affects my decision.
